Finally! I can get the tone i've been looking for
Let's just begin by saying this... I am not a professional nor can I afford to pay a grand for an amp. I don't need a stack or even a half stack really.
Now... If you are like me (and most of you really are)and you are looking for that REAL TONE that you just cannot get out of a flat, muddy solid-state combo amp, then try this amp on for size. I won't dog my last amp, a fender princeton series, but I was always trying to get it to do things that it just was not capable of doing.
This amp has great TONE starting at 0.5 on the volume knob! Its unbelievable. My Fender was virtually off at 0 and too loud and muddied at 1. Yeah, this thing can get loud but it is a beautiful thing to not have to be loud. If metal is your thing, buy something else, but if your tired of not hearing your guitar and your playing through the ugly roar of a solid-state, this is the one for you.
And as I began... Whether or not you will admit it, we are not all professionals, nor are we all rich. You would have to be loaded to buy a Marshall or other high end boutique amp that could rival this jewell's tone and quality.
P.S. I went into my local GC looking to by a Marshall but I carried this beauty out. Up until now, I always turned my nose up at anything Peavey, but now I'm a firm believer.

"Really, it's less than $500?!\
I am an avid guitarist playing for over 24 years and when I sampled this little amp I was shocked! Peavey has had a bad rap for many years now but I can assure you this amp competes with the best of them. Tubes, A/B, seperate equalizers, and 50 watts!! Now, you can have all of this and terrible sound but, this amp sounds wonderful. The lead channel is screaming with incredible classic rock tones. A few easy changes and you have SRV sounds bouncing off the walls. The clean channel is good, and yes, it does not sound like a Fender but, it will not dissapoint you. Whether you are a pro or a hobbyist this amp will inpire you to play and play and play. No better value out there

Great Amp... If It's What You're Looking For
I played the Peavey Valveking 112 at Guitar Center, after reading countless reviews and talking to owners. I was looking for a very versatile tube amp, without having to spend my life savings account. It impressed me on its gain channel, but I could not get a clean tone out of it for the life of me. I could play anything from old school metal, ie Black Sabbath and Metallica, to modern metal like Slipknot and Dragonforce, but I couldn't dial into a good clean tone. If you are into a distorted sound for any kind of metal, this tube amp is an affordable way to go. Compared it the Marshall MG100HDFX/MG412 half stack, the Valveking sounds a lot better, can get louder, and is considerably cheaper.

Good amp..loud
Bought this amp 6 months ago but only started using it within the last month.Found that there was definitely something wrong as I did not have the volume or tone that other owners had.Eventually I pulled the speaker and found to my dismay that there were what seems to be screwdiver holes on the outer rim of the speaker. These seem to have been patched up with some type of expoxy or silcon glue. Also the reverb tank only had one screw holding it in place. So much for Peaveys quality control in their China facilities.Tightened down reverb tank and replaced speaker with a Celestion G12-75.Unbeleivable difference .I can now see why this amp is getting rave reviews. Its loud...very loud and clear. The tubes are some no-name Chinese Brand.....the Texture control could have been a ClassA/AB Switch for what its worth and the amp should have come with a footswitch included. (the first one I bought had to be returned cause it did not work)All in all great value for money.I will be contacting Peavy to reimburse me for the cost of a speaker

bow to the king!
I just bought this amp this morning, and you might wonder why i'm not playing it now. i guess its because my fingers were about to bleed, and it might be a little hard to play guitar that way.
Enough of that, let's get onto this awesome amp. After playing a cheap fender practice amp for 2 years, the step up to a tube amp was awesome. the sound is amazing, the cleans are clean, and you can get so much out of the lead channel. my strat sounds unbelievable through it. it is very simple to use, and the texture is fun to play with. i was looking at amps, and I saw a tube amp for $400 and I was a little suspicious about the quality, but this amp is the best bang for your buck you can get. I also bout a boss SD-1 with it, and the sound is amazing.
