Dual channel and monstrous all-tube output!

The VB-2 is a Peavey bass amplifier head built around a tube power section that uses six EL34 tubes to deliver its stunning 225 watts of power. By adjusting the Clean Gain and Overdrive Gain controls on the footswitchable Clean and Crunch channels, respectively, you can dial in tones ranging from the snarling grit of rock and metal to the weighty thump of old-school dub and reggae to clean, punchy hi-fi--all while delivering the necessary "cut" to maintain a strong bass presence in live performances.

Backing up the amplifier's tube growl is a 3-band EQ that combines the best attributes of passive and active tone controls. This section includes high and low controls, as well as a mid control with a four-position midrange selector switch that allows you to set the mid-frequency shift at 200, 400, 600 or 800 Hz.

Peavey's patented Resonance and Presence controls, which adjust the damping factor at the low and high ends, respectively, along with a three-way speaker impedance selector, enable you to match the VB-2 to virtually any bass speaker enclosure. A footswitchable mute/tuner circuit and front-panel effects loop give players additional flexibility.

  • Get it, you won't be disappointed!

As reviewed by DC on 2/8/2010

This is a great amp. Of course it's going to give you that round warm tube tone you're looking for in a tube amp. With adjustment of the Presence and Resonance knobs, you can go from warm and pillowy to fast and slightly modern. Also, 225 tube watts will put most solid state amps of twice the volume to shame. The only con is that the distortion channel is fun to mess with, but the volume difference between the two channels is to great to be switchable in a song context. Other than that, replacing tubes as with any tube amp, isn't cheap. That comes with the territory though. This amp requires 6 EL34's to get it's super loud 225 watts. The engineers at Peavey have highly recommended the Ruby EL34BHT as a replacement in that dept. I highly recommend this amp.

  • Nothing Beats All Tube Power!!!

As reviewed by KURT KNUTSON on 9/19/2011

Awesome amp! I have chased tones for years and spent alot of money doing it and I finally found what I've always been looking for. This thing produces any tone you want for any style. And yes, you can play metal with it very well. I play fast attacking finger style myself and this thing articulates beautifully! I've tried hybrids and owned many solid state amps, but have never been satisfied with the tone or the presence in a live situation. Playing live with this beast I receive numerous compliments on the tone and my bandmates appreciate it as well cuz my other rigs kinda stepped on the guitar players tone. I use the clean channel at about half gain, but this amp has an overdrive channel that can produce an awesome Stoner/Doom buzz. For comparison I've also tried an SVT Heritage all tube amp, but there isn't as much gain for modern use. Plus this one is $800 cheaper.

  • vb2 is the amp

As reviewed by Pahtric Lindström on 10/4/2009

Just want to say that this vb2 is a real super amp, i use different cabs for it, 215 enclosure, trace 810 and a 210 and I must say its working grate for all of them, I use the effect loop and its working grate for my pedals, and the second channel is superb for my solos with a little more distrosion or a lot more, just as much as you need, its real easy to use when you have practise with the controls for a little time and i just have to say SUPER AMP. And you can play loud if you want very loud much louder than a ampeg and stronger to.
