The Sanpera I footswitch includes an expression pedal for controlling volume, wah and pitch shifter functions, plus 4 momentary feature selector buttons. (A momentary switch gives you momentary use of the desired effect as long as the button is depressed. Releasing the button ends the effect.) The Sanpera I is housed in a roadworthy, rugged cast-metal casing and features high-quality metal switches.
This pedal is incredibly useful if you own any of the Peavey Vypyr series and plan on gigging (I don't think some of the smaller ones support it, however). It gives you footswitch access to all 12 of your available presets. 4 at a time, and by pressing 2 buttons at once, you can switch banks to use a different 4. The switches themselves are very sturdy, the pedal is roadworthy and durable. There are only 2 issues with it. This first is the wah, on mine, it wasn't actually enabled (I've read this is very common). This is easy to change though, and with a screw driver and about 120 seconds you can open it up and screw the trigger to the right position. It just takes a bit of work to get it right, as if it's too high, it engages too easily. And too low prevents it from engaging (which you may want, if you'd like to avoid accidentally using it). The looper is also not as great as I had hoped. Whenever looping, the recorded phrase plays back louder than it was recorded at. Why, I don't know. If you can get around this and use the volume knob on the guitar, volume pedal before recording, it works just fine though. Overall, these don't outweigh how necessary this pedal is for a gigging player.
I bought the sanpera I about a month ago and I've used it everyday and gigged with it twice. It works great both at home and on stage. Though at first I was afraid it was going to feel very fake and plastic it actually feels very sturdy and durable. The wah is good except when i got the pedal the wah was very hard to engage but i just tightened a screw in the back and now it's great. I really love this pedal for my vypyr and I would suggest it to anyone who owns a vypyr series amp, active player or hobbyist.
Well, I was looking to buy a Sanpera II for my Peavey Vypyr 60 watt tube amp, but it was double the price of this. So I looked into it and found out that both do about the same things, but the Sanpera II has a few differences, such as the LED display and a tuner. I'll admit, some things about this are a little complicated, which is probably why they made the Sanpera II, but for the most part, it does a lot for how much you pay. You don't have to buy all sorts of pedals if you get an amp with the built in effects, and then the Sanpera will allow you to switch to different settings. So overall, I would recommend this product to any serious guitar player.
