Multi-voiced versatility in a bulletproof package for the tube purist.
The Peavey Penta Half-Stack includes the Penta tube guitar amp head and Penta 412 speaker cabinet.
Single-channel Penta tube amp head with selectable EQ/gain voicings gives you 5 different personalities to choose from. 4 matched EL34 tubes and 4 - 12AX7 tubes, with ceramic tube sockets, large custom transformers, and superior components give you the vintage rock tones you're searching for. Provides 140W RMS into 16, 8, or 4 ohms.
The Penta Head's 5 classic gain voicings use all-analog Pentatone circuitry and are accessible via a rotary knob and identified by corresponding icons. All you need to do is plug in and play.
Voices: • Star reveals a classic British "plexi" voicing • Bull produces a modified British voicing with tons of added gain and a tighter low end • Tree lays on a thicker British voicing with a loose attack and slightly more gain • Mudflap Girl is a super-high-gain voicing with a more responsive EQ and power amp section (think Triple XXX) • Cactus is, simply put, Texas fat and clean
The Peavey Penta 412 cabinet is specially voiced for use with the Penta Head. 4 - 12" rear-mounted speakers, 11-ply birch baffle, and 1/2" poplar sides with a striking brown-weave grille cloth.

Gain...
Two words: Good Lord.
The pure volume of this rig will confuse you.
Peavey? Wha?
I tested this rig out today @ Guitar Center in Plano, Texas in the "Loud Room".. yeah, it's named that for a reason. I grabbed an Ibanes S520 off the wall and headed into the room to test another amp.(not mentioning the amp) After being VERY disappointed, I decided to kill some time and check out the guitar on something, anything, to get over the huge embarassing failure I just got done playing through.. Plugged in, sat down, fiddled with the "selector" knob till I got to the "Mudflap" selection, put the Master no more than an 1/8th of the way up, instant satisfaction.
Never even knew this amp existed before today.
Played on it for an hour uninterrupted.. completely satisfied.
After a few minutes of warming up, and letting the tubes get good and warm, I brought the Master volume to a 1/4.. the gain on this head is unbelievable, people. Jacking down the volume on the guitar and hitting the neck pickup whips this beast into a beautiful, warm, tone wihtout switching channels.. as it only has one channel.
If there is perfection, this is it. To get right back on full throttle, flip to the bridge pup, crank the guitar volume full tilt, and the monster roars once more.
I am impressed to the highest degree.
Peavey, I don't know who has taken over out there.. but they hit it right on the head with this one. Pun intended.
