I don't usually give five star reviews as I feel it misrepresents an item and tends to give a fan-boy vibe for the reviewer. But this time I have to honestly say that I don't have any complaints about the package. GC has done an excellent job putting this together with good components for the great price. First off, the mixer. It is very small and extremely light. When I first received the package(s) I had to dig for the mixer. It was under the cables and packing material. My concern with that is someone pulling it off the table by snagging a cord. Other than that it works well. There are very basic EQ controls for each channel. The pots and sliders feel good and solid. There are actually only six channels for mic/instrument input. The last two are stereo channels you could use for something like a tape deck/cd player for doing DJ or Karaoke. The manual is very basic. If you don't know anything about sound reinforcement, you need to do some reading as the manual tells you what each part does in one sentence or less. Next, the speakers. I have no complaints here at all. They are not huge, but they do weigh a bit. They are solidly encased in weapons grade plastic that should put up to handling. Built in EQ section which is nice. You have a choice of inputs between XLR, 1/4" and RCA so they will work with a number of inputs. You can even run a mic directly into them if needed. Why you would I don't know, but you can. Finally the mics. Are they good enough to get by with, yes. They sound okay with vocals and even for miking a guitar cab. They are not cheap throw away junk like you get with some packages. Each of mine has an on/off switch. No blatant noise or feedback issues, although you do get a bit of handling noise when using a mic stand. The cables are workable, although I wouldn't stake my performance on their durability. Considering that it would cost you around $60 to purchase separately I appreciate them being included. If you?re going to be taking this out you may want to at least buy a couple of spares. Overall I can't find a great deal to complain about. None of the components is the top of the line, but all are good and solid. Nothing that I would consider cheap or flimsy. We use ours for band practice for vocals only. In this capacity it works without any issues. Would I take it out to gig? Probably not, unless it was absolutely necessary. But I love it and I am very satisfied with both quality and price. Just be reasonable on what you are expecting.
For the price, this is a good PA. The sound obviously isn't perfect, but for $550 its good. The fact that it includes the cables, mics, speakers, and boards make it very nice. Great for an acoustic player.
