Mixer is good all around. Speakers are a bit dead on the low end (bass). Good system for small areas or for just having fun. Wouldn't use them in a "real" setting: club, vocal,dj.
Over all good for the cheap price though!!!!
I must first start by saying that I have used various small PAs over the last 20 years. So I compare this to a number of 8 channel or smaller mixers both powered and unpowered.
I must admit I was a bit shocked shocked when I received this system. The mixer is small. I think it's only about 15'x15'. In my limited experience with PA systems I have never seen one this small. But don't let that fool you. It does everything that I would expect from an 6/8 channel mixer.
The knobs and sockets are good and solid. While it is small and light it certainly doesn't feel cheap. I'm actually impressed with the quality of materials and construction. Thumbs up to Peavey on that.
The is a small but efficient EQ section for each of the six channels, as well as the two stereo channels. The last two would probably be used for DJ equipment I would guess. I have no use for them right now.
The onboard effects are limited but you get a decent enough reverb/chorus. The delay is really kind of cheesy sounding, but let's be honest. If you want a good delay you need to buy a vocal processor. Anything built in will always be somewhat limited. I give them 4/5 for giving us some effects.
The output section give you the option of using XLR or 1/4 for your speakers. With the package you get XLR cables so that it what I have used. No issues here, but I like that it does both.
The included speakers are really pretty nice. While not the loudest or super bass, they work well. Good lows without being muddy. Good highs without being thin. Good mids without being overwhelming. I haven't messed with the onboard EQs or other inputs. So I really can't comment there. But I assume it will do what you need them to.
The microphones are good, not great, but good. If you want great then buy some SM58s. Not sense in complaining about what comes with it.
Overall, it is what it is. A good small PA for vocals in a band or as a live DJ system. Can you run all of your stuff through it? No. There are not enough inputs and I don't think the sound out of those speakers would work real well. That's not what they are designed for. If you need a full sound reinforcement system for live audio, then look at the packages for that. If you need some vocals for a band, this will more than fill the ticket. Best of all, when we buy our live rig, we can still use the mixer and speakers as a monitor system. So it's not a cheap throw away system.
Great package GC.
