  I figured I would take the time to write a review on this guitar since there were none to date when I was looking to purchase this. What can I say?...you get what you pay for in this instance. First, we'll start with looks. It was finished pretty well. It's obviously a decal on the body that was clear coated over, but blends nicely & not noticeable. Mine had a few paint flaws here and there along with some wood grain showing through on the painted headstock. Over all, not bad. Electronics...acceptable as well. No scatchy pots with a smooth taper. They turn nicely, not too loose, nor too tight. It has one humbucker that you're able to get some decent cleans out of & no problem with high gain stuff. You can actually get some decent tones if you have a good quality amp. I don't think your kid really cares about tone anyway though?! The set-up out of the box was pretty horrible. The nut was cut too low and the strings were buzzing like crazy! It looks like one of those China men used their teeth to cut the nut slots! I had to replace the nut immediately & re-file it to the proper height. The bridge also had to be adjusted because the saddle heights were too high. It has a fixed bridge held down with 2 screws. It is is garbage. The saddles don't adjust as they should. Nothing moves smoothly. I will probably be changing that out as well. One plus is that they actually made this guitar a string-through body which I was surprised about! The intonation is pretty bad also on this guitar. I can get the open string to match up with the 12th fret octave pretty close, but for some reason the biggest problem are the notes in the 1st position. The nut is cut correctly and the action is low off the nut as it should be, but I'm getting sharp notes on a couple of the strings when fretted. The guitar doesn't stay in tune for long at all either. It could be the cheap tuners, could be the bridge or a combination of both? The neck seems to be decent enough. It's straight and there aren't any loose or dead frets. The only issue with the neck was that the rosewood fretboard was very dry when I received the guitar. I had to apply some lemon oil on there and it sucked it right up. I applied 2 coats to get it to look as it should. Other than those few issues...this guitar is perfect! Seriously though, I didn't expect much for what I payed for the thing. It's a great learning tool for your child, that's about it & that's why I purchased it. If you don't know how to set-up a guitar or make minor repairs to one, plan on spending additional to have a professional get it tuned up & ready to play for your child. I gave it 3 stars because over all it's really pretty decent for a kid to learn on, but I don't think anybody should have to dish out more money to have a brand new guitar repaired or tuned up. I would have happily paid an additional amount to have received a guitar with a better quality bridge & a proper set-up. I think Peavey needs to crack the whip on their Quality Control Department over in China!

  I ordered the Guitar online, and picked it up at the store. First of all, it's supposed to come with a strap, and picks. It says so on the box. It did not come with either, My son finally gets it Christmas morning, and we plug it it, but nothing, no sound. I turned my overdrive all the way up before I actually heard sounds out of the amp, this can't be right. My son is very disappointed that his Christmas present is not working, so I will be returning it sometime next week. Hopefully for an even exchange. I gave it two stars because of the size, and graphics.
