Dynamic response and enhanced tube emulation technology.

Peavey's exclusive, patented TransTube technology emulates the sound of tube amplifiers with the convenience and reliability of solid-state design. The TransTube preamp tailors the gain level for the desired amount of drive, and the power amp responds to the preamp with natural compression that increases with the amp's volume. The result is a line of amplifiers with widely ranging dynamics and natural grit like a tube amp.TransTube technology comes after several years of research and development, during which Peavey engineers studied every aspect of tube amp design and performance, from their gain structures and speaker cabinet voicings to clipping points, damping factors and power outputs.

  • 5 stars great little amp.

As reviewed by Rodney Strong on 2/12/2009

Got it for a travel amp. Incredible sound. Play it wide open, with overdrive engaged. I play a Epiphone Special 2. Great combination. I played it tonight with my Gibson Les Paul(s). Different from my Marshall, but for what it is this little amp delivers. Delivers every squeal and sustain is in now way masked. Great harmonic response from this bottom-of-the-line amp, from a maker of the most historically questionable amps. Unless you have a bigger amp pass on this one. You will outgrow it in a hurry. For a travel, leave it at the girlfriends, perfect.

  • Not That Good!

As reviewed by t_schux on 3/1/2010

I refered this amp to a beginner based on the reviews alone, big mistake, the sound of this amp sucks. My Marshall practise amp (Marshall MG4 Series MG10) at around the same price as this one blows it away. Don't get sucked into Peavey's "TransTube technology", man what a joke, get the Marshall.
