The Peavey 6505 112 is the combo version of the acclaimed 6505+ amplifier. This portable powerhouse features five 12AX7 preamp tubes and 2 - 6L6GC power amp tubes, with presence and resonance controls and 3-band EQ for taming their notorious tone. It also includes 3-spring Accutronix reverb and the Microphone Simulated Direct Interface (MSDI), which delivers the sound of a miked guitar cabinet in live performance and studio recording applications.

The 6505 Series of guitar amplifiers celebrates of Peavey's first 40 years, 1965 to 2005. The 6505 amp is also the relaunch of the 5150 Series, the immensely popular amplifiers Peavey designed with Edward Van Halen.

  • Don't Listen to the Haters

    I've owned Marshalls, MESAs, Soldanos, Fenders and this amp kicks butt, for the price you can't beat the tone. I replaced the Sheffield speakers with a Celestion Vintage 30's and it is an amazing transformation. A 1st class trip to nuanance city of harmonic dynamics. Add a BBE Sonic Maximizer stomp box and you got a Hard Rock Total Package. The clean channel is very sweet and articulate also. The Haters of this amp need a hearing exam investment. Try taking some guitar lessons and try to learn what tone is all about.

    I really, really really, really wanted to love this amp. I tried it out a couple of years ago and I ran into the same issues. The gain on this thing is MASSIVE which is great given the style of music I tend to play. The best thing is that I can get great sounds on this thing at low volumes which is important since this thing isn?t leaving my apartment. I played songs from Van Halen to Megadeth and this amp RAWKS! The distortion tone is pure and crisp and notes really jump out of the amp. A speaker upgrade would make this thing a beast?well maybe not so fast. The clean channel is not so good, well it SUCKS!!! I was in the Guitar Center in New Orleans a couple of days ago and literally tried 6 different guitars on the clean channel trying to get something decent out of it with no success. The sales guy walked up to see if I needed help and saw what amp I was playing on and immediately said he owns the amp, but will have to let it go because of the clean channel issues. He said he put compressors and EQ?s in the loop and had no success either. It is truly heartbreaking to say but this thing is a one Trick pony. The clean channel has no headroom whatsoever and the crunch function provides no depth to the amp at all. This is why I give this thing 4 stars again. Simply put it is a pure Hard Rock and Metal amp that is it. You buy this amp for gain and nothing else.

  • NICE!!!

    I tried many amps including the Randall, Egnator, Fender, and Vox looking for a compact amp that could deliver. Negatives; the stock sheffield speaker is not the best option for this amp. I went with a celestion v30 classic and it really sweetened up the sound. Also the ruby 6L6 tubes really aren't the best sounding so they got replaced by a pair of GT 6L6 GC Gold series tubes and WOW the difference is night and day. That said Peavey got it right with this amp.I get it with producing a cost effective product. The clean channel does leave a bit to be desired, but as a whole this is a very usable rig. Put my favorite stomp boxes in front of it and rock out. I have to say I didn't expect to end up choosing this amp over the rest, but it really did catch my ear.
