Solid Stand

By Adrian Nevarez

from Bakersfield California

Easy to setup. The quick release is a time saver. The silver tube slides up and down for height adjustment via notches. The stabilizers slide up the legs to support underneath the congas. The "toes" extend from each leg to accommodate un-level playing surfaces and added height adjustment. Heavy duty stand (15-20lbs)and it doesn't move around while playing. Pearl needs to reexamine how the QRS attaches to the silver tube. It sits on a cut out at the top of the tube with a wing nut that tightens from the back. Still confused by the design. The pin that goes through the notches/holes for height adjustment feels like it will break. If it does you'll have to buy a new stand. The pin is supported in the back by a screw-in knob but IMHO its inferior. You connect the stabilizers by clamping on to a plastic piece that's covers/wrap around the leg and gives it the ability to slide up and down. If plastic part breaks good luck finding a replacement. You have to tighten the stabilizer a lot. So much that I stripped the screw. Come to find out the screw wing nut is a special size not available at Lowes or Home Depot. Had to go a mom and pop bolt store. I truly do like the stand. The QRS, individual toe height adjustment, and sturdiness are solid! However, I'm switching over to basket stands so I can add a conga. Come to think of it I would have stuck to basket stands in the first place.
