Awesome Snare!!!

By pearlreference7101

from Kansas City, Missouri

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

I bought this snare last-minute because my other snare never arrived from the airport, and now I don't even use my other one! I was simply blown away by the sensitivity and projection, not to mention the amazing warmth this baby has. If you are looking for a great snare for the money, look no further - this is the one to buy. It is hands-down the most versatile snare I've ever used in my drumming career! Buy one, you won't be disappointed!

Great drum

By Cheesie

from Richmond, VA

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

The snare drum is great. Nice finish, Remo heads, and hardware. Nothing to complain about. Once I wear out the coated Ambassdor batter, I am going to try out the Ambassdor X batter head. I did the Guitar Center "Ship to store" option which wasn't that good of an idea. I get two e-mails from Guitar Center, one that says the order was processed and another that says the product got shipped along with a UPS tracking number. When the product gets delivered by UPS to the Guitar Center store. I go to pick it up. The salesperson cannot find it. The person who signed off on receiving the shipment was not working. I go back to the drum section with the salesperson and another salesperson asked what I ordered. That guy tells the salesman to look at the box on the floor that says Masters on the side. He pulls it out and it has my name on the shipping label. Anyway, I didn't think it was good that they put my shipment out on the showroom floor as if it were available for purchase. I am no longer going to do the "Ship to Store" again but just have it shipped to my home. The salesperson was cool and didn't get an attitude as I was starting to get upset. I like GC and this drum was being sold for less than other online stores.

Amazing!!!

By Rob

from Glendale, CA

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

I bought the 5.5 x 14 black silk finish along with the Masters shell pack. This snare was sweet right out of the box. I changed the heads and put on a Remo controlled sound head and tuned the snare pretty tight. The cracks were loud and fat. I would compare this snare to the Tama Starclassic Maple snare. Excellent build and price. Highly Recommend!!!

What a beautiful monster

By mr. S

from Spring Texas

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

I love the versatility this snare provides. It has a wide tuning range. It lets me have different voices out of one single instrument. it alsoso stays tuned longer through out the whole show. Its a total monster.sensitive enough for an acoustic setting or loud and agressive for high volume situations.dont get me started on rim shots.

Top Notch Snare!

By Nelson

from Orlando, FL

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

I have no complaints for this snare whatsoever. Its beautiful, it sounds amazing, and its adjustable for all types of music playing. Personally, I love cranking up both the batter and resonant heads pretty tight for a loud and tight cracking sound. I always get excited to play my snare when performing live music. I love the feeling of waking up the crowd with this snare when first played. I'm telling you, you can equip this snare with any heads, as long as you have the right tuning, you're gonna have an enormous loud, but controlled sound. The Pearl Masters All Maple Shell Snare defines sweetness!

I dont plan on ever needing another snare this one sounds great tuned tight or lose with very very little overtones a moon jel or a studio ring works great, I hope this review helps someone out there buy this snare you wont regret it!

Masters Custom MCX snare

By Jon Caruana

from Helena, Montana

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

This snare is very good, i got the Lime Sparkle Fade finish and it is beautiful. It is very versitile. It has a very good crack to it and the rimshots are so lould! I recomend slapping a moongel on it because it has a very slight ring to it. The MasterCast hoops make the drum look even more spectacular. The snare throw-off is very smooth and the snares are fastened by rope, not the cheap platic in some other snares. It comes with a Remo Coated Ambassator batter head and a Remo Snare Clear Ambassator. Even the lightest ghost note souns good on this snare, great for ANY kind of music. I think this is better than other snares of this price. Pearl backs it up with a lifetime warenty and thier costomer service is exelent. This drum also has 10 lugs insted of 8 as you will see in lots of ther snares prices up to 300, these extra lugs really improve sound and will keep your heads in tune for a long time. It also comes with a drum key.

Great snare at a great price.

By Shawn Pitts

from Terre Haute

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

I waited to write a review until I had enough playing time to give the snare a fair review. I have been using it for 6 months now and I have been very impressed with this snare. I've tried a few different heads and the Evans Genra is the one I like the most on this snare. I have it tuned tight and had to use a moon gel to kill the ringing but other then that,it has a very loud pop to it when tuned tight and sound great when tuned a bit loose. I had a Ludwig Epic 20 ply Birch snare I had to return and this was the snare that caught my eye at GC. The Epic snare was nice and sounded good, but the quality just wasn't there. I am glad I swapped them out and got the better of the 2. I have let a friend borrow it for a few gigs and he was impressed with it as well. I have the 6.5"x14" since I like a deeper snare.I was considering on having more then 2 snare drums in my collection, but this Snare is all a person needs.

Best Snare I've Ever Played

By Emelly

from Madison, WI

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

I was looking to buy a new snare since I've only played on the stock snares that have come with my kits, and holy cow was I impressed. It came in great condition right out of the box with a Remo coated ambassador head on the top and another Remo head on the bottom, which was something I was definitely not expecting. I barely had to tune it to make it sound great and it fits in so nicely with the sound of my birch kit. If you're looking to get a new snare, trust me, it's worth the extra money to save up for this one. The snares have a great crack and crispness to them. It's perfect for any rock drummers.

from 92019

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

OK first of all id like to start out by saying guitar center, you have amazing customer service i walked right in and asked for a snare thats good for versitile playing, mostly metal and hard rock. Instantly one of the guys pulled out this snare i took it home and now im writing this review. It has an amazing crack to it and before this snare i hated overtones. Now i love them. This drum has taken drumming to a whole other level! Thank you guitar center and Pearl drums!!! :)

Fantastic Drum, conversion to pearl is now complete

By scott Hamill

from Puyallup, WA

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

This drum has outstanding musical tone, and a great warm pop when tuned tightly. I put a remo reverse dot on the batter side and left the stock ambassador snare on it. I traded the DW performance series 14x6.5 for this drum and do NOT regret it. The masters MCX is overall a much better drum when compared to the DW. The shell is more precise, with a nice even bearing edge and it is MUCH more musical and much easier to tune. The DW performance had flaws in the shell and bearing edge which made the snare side impossible to tune. If you are looking for a maple snare for < $300.00, this is your drum.

Wonderful sounding snare!

By jonathan fogg

from nor'east

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

I purchased the 6 1/2 chestnut fade and it is stunning. When I first played this snare at G.C. I knew it was something special. So many snares look similar so how can they sound so different? You hear about the maple or birch, etc. You say it has steel, cast or wood hoops. Well, whatever they're doing at pearl, this combination just works. I love my Yamaha snares too, don't get me wrong. This was what I was looking for and when I heard the wood tone and how easy it felt to play, I had to have it. Buzz rolls were never easier and rim shots never felt so good. It's truly versatile, too. From good old rock n roll to jazz and blues of all kinds, this snare is a workhorse. And, yes, the quality is first rate, I don't care where it's manufactured. Like the saying goes, try it..you'll like it.

My first maple shelled snare

By Richard Moquin

from South Windsor, CT

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

So far this snare has been exciting to play. My only experience has been with poplar and steel shelled snares. Even with stock heads on this snare, it produces a warm sound not inherent with my other two snares. I have yet to put it through some thorough testing, but initially I am happy with my choice. I tested several snares at my local store and settled on this one as soon as I played with it. I am usually against reviews of any kind for any store website I shop from, but this one was easy to write. I only wish I could have a complete kit with maple shells because there is something about the warm tone that draws me in. When I change the heads to my own I am sure the snare will amaze me even more so.

Great Snare Drum!!

By Dean Burlon Jr

from Lindenhurst, NY

Comments about Pearl MCX Masters Series Snare Drum:

I bought this snare about 5 years ago, and it is still in amzing shape. It looks good, It sounds amazing. I get a very controlled deep crack out of this snare. My set up is all Evans heads, Power center coated reverse dot, hazy 300 snare side, and fat cat snare wires. I can tune it for a pop/rock setting, and down tune it for a hard rock setting. I don't want any other snare! you wont either!
