Explosives Act

By Michael DiNardo Jr

from Old Bridge, New Jersey

Comments about Pearl M-80 Snare Drum:

I recently just bought this snare drum on Monday, the Monday after Black Friday, and I couldn't be happier. For 70 dollars, I couldn't believe the sound that came out of it. I was kind of mind boggling myself on how it would sound, but I couldn't be thrilled more. It was pretty much tuned already right out of the box, but I like my snare tuned really tight for a really really high crack. 2 turns on each lug, top and bottom, and It was ready to go. After I tuned It, I adjusted the snare wires to how i liked it, and man does this thing rock. I sometimes even use this as a main snare. Its that good. I'll probably be using this baby as my main snare for a while, so if you are thinking about purchasing this snare, DO IT! You won't be disappointed in it, or at least I wasn't.

Don't expect much

By Matt Curtis

from Shelby, NC

Comments about Pearl M-80 Snare Drum:

When I purchased this snare I was expecting a mediocre sound at best, and that is what it delivered. The stock heads are simply terrible. Replaced the batter with a remo ambassador. If not tuned just right this snare gives off some mean ring and overtones. I prefer using it as a side timbale. Not impressed at all with the snares on it, the throw off is the cheapest thing I have ever seen. Not all that loud either, very limited punch with not much volume. If you want a quality popcorn snare, save your money and go with a pearl maple 10x6

One sweet deal!

By Adam Green

from Cincinnati, Ohio

Comments about Pearl M-80 Snare Drum:

I love this snare. I play old school 80's and 90's death metal and this snare is fantastic to use over obscure riffs. It's a great side snare and worth every penny. Love it tuned high

By Dan

Comments about Pearl M-80 Snare Drum:

For the price this thing is un-beatable. It has an amazing pop sound. Using Ambassador Coated over generic Pearl Clear Head. This snare is amazing get it! Buy a Gibraltar clamp to put it on your hi hat and you are golden =D

Pearl M-80 10" x 4" Snare Effects Drum

By Richard

from South Windsor, CT

Comments about Pearl M-80 Snare Drum:

I added this snare as an auxiliary snare in place of my piccolo snare. With stock heads on it, I tweaked the top and bottom heads a little. I tuned it to off pitch my primary snare. I bought new heads for it, but the stock heads will do fine for now. For those drummers that think a 70 dollar snare is of no value, they would be mistaken. This snare sounds like the one used on Janet Jackson's hits cd. The pop is loud and crisp with stock heads out of the box. For the price, this drum is well worth the purchase. THe added mount on the side of the snare is useful for a clave or some kind of effect.

Comments about Pearl M-80 Snare Drum:

This is one amazing little thing. I am one to change heads right out of the box when I get a new drum, but this one works right away. I tuned it up, leaving the reso head table top tight and having the batter pretty up there, this little drum works amazingly. I can see myself keeping a one ply coated head as the batter, but it is really responsive. I originally wanted this to replace the snare on my breakbbeats kit, just to make it easier to transport with less hardware (no snare stand) but I will be using this as a replacement for my 13x3 snare. The mounting bracket is very sturdy and can hold it
s own on the long run. I highly reccomend it.
