The strength and durability of aluminum, and the warm sound of wood.

The Pearl Ultracast Cast Aluminum Snare Drum is a precision-milled, cast aluminum snare. At 3mm thick, it's one of the thickest metal snares available and its soft metal provides a warm, round, full-bodied tone similar to a wood shell snare. Its black powder-coated shell, tube lugs, and SuperHoop II rims give it an exciting new look.

Pearl UltraCast Cast Aluminum Snare Drum Features:

  • 3mm thick cast aluminum shell
  • Black lacquer-coated finish
  • SuperHoop II rims
  • S-022NU all-natural metal snares

Ultracast Snare

I've played wood snares, metal snares, concert snares, marching snares, jazz snares, rock snares and I must say I'm pretty happy with my snare. I play predominantly rock but we're all over the volume range and this snare keeps up. You can play loud, soft, middle of the head, outside of the head. You can get a lot of snare action with this drum and there's no pingy-ness that metal snares can sometimes have. You get the warmth of a wood snare with the volume and total power of a metal snare. My only beef is that I've managed to knock some of that powder-coating paint off of the shell. That was back in my gigging days though and I wasn't really being nice to it. I still have the snare and she's still singing beautifully. The rims look cool and are indestructable. They'll stay black no matter what.

Most Versatile Snare Ever Made

I'm just going to get right to te point, The Pearl "UltraCast" Snare is by far the best snare drum I have ever played on. It's the perfect mix of a metal drum and a wood drum. When played, it's a perfect combination of the two materials. When you tune it loose or open, its warm, shimmering, and pure. When tuned tight, it's dry, controlled, and in your face. On top of everything, it's loud. By far the loudest snare drum on the market only next to the "Vinnie Paul" Signature Snare drum which is also made by Pearl. As you can see Pearl makes the best snare drums out there. When Quality meets Versatility, Pearl Snare Drums are without a doubt the only a answer.
