Gunshot . . .

Yep, this snare sounds like a gunshot the way I have it tuned. ITs loud, has loads of crack without lacking body, and a very pleasing amount of overtones. This was the first snare I bought with die-cast hoops, and I am never going back to 2.3mm. And the finish is to die for. So deep and lush, a beautiful drum.

Extremely versatile snare!

I play a wide variety of styles and this snare works with all, from light jazz to heavy, large venue rock. "Tight" or "loose" this snare has just the right amount of tone without sounding flat and I was impressed with the rim shot sound and volume. The fit and finish of this drum is top notch. This is a very high quality "do everything" snare.

Awesome Snare!

My career began in 1968 and I've played a lot of snare drums over the years. I own 3 "Original" Slingerlands, one of which I was given in 1967. I own an "Original" Slingerland kit (8 toms, kick, & snare), as well as a Slingerland Mahogany parade snare, and a Pearl piccolo snare. I bought a Pearl Masters kit in 2007 and I bought this "free floating" snare at the same time. It is TRULY a wonderful snare. It has to be played to be appreciated, but it sounds like a cannon going off. Mine is tuned tight and the my snares pop like no other. What I like about this snare is the fact nothing is attached to the shell, and the shells are interchangeable. Go from maple to brass to copper if you choose, and each will give you a totally different sound. Not only that, you can get them in 5, 5.5, and 6.5 inch depths. I Very Highly Recommend this snare drum. It's versatile, sounds absolutely stunning, has great response and feel, and people WILL sit up and notice. It will cut through just about anything without a mic. You will be very happy you own this one! I am, and I will be buying the other shells so I can try different sounds. Get It Today! You won't regret it.

Amazing Snare

This snare will blow you away. this snare can range Depending on how you like your snare sounding. this thing brings out a great crack, tight, crisp snare with just enough tone. when you play it everyone will look at you. Its really great for rock, punk, reggae (if tuned to be a little tight). This is an awesome snare for the money, and you can totally change the sound by purchasing other shells. This thing sounds like a million bucks. Check it out!
