The warm, full tone of mahogany enriches the tone of this compact yet deep snare.

No more snares for me after this...

I have owned a few snares... the deepest being a 7 X 12 snare (by Pearl, of course), which I still own. I have always longed for a deeper snare with a 13" diameter... I prefer 13" or less in the diameter of a snare. Anyway, the deepest snare in a 13 I have owned was an Omar Hakin 5 X 13 snare. Excellent snare, don't get me wrong! But it wasn't deep enough for that "bucket" look... Until now. This Limited Edition African Mahogany 9 X 13 that Pearl came up with has been the answer to my prayers, so much so that I traded my Omar Hakim to get it. It looks and sounds awesome. Enough said. I don't need to get any more snares now. This snare will last me for the rest of my life. Only Pearl can do it! That's it.

Bright sensitivity with dark depth

Great snare for an auxilary or main snare. Snares respond at the slightest attack; while the drum itself possesses rich warm depth for a fat, meaty resonance. Sounds great without muffling; while you hear tasteful overtones while sriking the outer parts of the batter, you hear absolutely no overtones when striking the middle. A perfect compliment to the Vinnie Paul snare.
