Great sound for the price

By Steve Monsen

from Hartford, WI

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

I traded a set of Zildjian ZBT's for these. And at this great price these hats sound great. I play on a church worship team, so we are doing mostly christian worship songs. I needed something that was bright and defined but also could be used at a quiet level. These Paiste hi hats deliver and don't disappoint. I also have a PST 5 16" fast crash, PST 5 10" splash and a Paiste Signature 20" ride. Paiste makes great sounding cymbals, even in the lower priced PST 5 line.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

wow. i mean, wow. worth every penny. great, loud, and that open sound..... like i said, wow. i can see why people didnt like the closed sound so much, just a little on the tinny side (BUT STILL THE BEST IN THEIR PRICE RANGE!!!) but otherwise...... lets just say..... cant wait to hear a pair of paiste alphas!

btw, have a 16" med crash too, pst5 as well. great as well, get the whole line!!!!
can take a beating.
beat out the b8 pros (best comparable line) in price

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

I've had these hi-hat cymbals for a year and i don't think they've ever bailed on me. Both the top and bottom hats have an amazing sound and they are great for any genre.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

I've had these cymbols for a while and they don't have any dents, make great sound, good weight, durable, and great for beginners. If you are having trouble deciding between these and others, don't look any farther. They're wonderful for the price. Recommended to anyone

for non-noobs

By mothman-1yH2P

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

I just wanted to write a review for the rest of us that have been playing for longer than 5 years. I picked up these hats used and happen to love them. They do not have short sustain at all as one reviewer commented. There's no way he has these hats, they sustain until the cows come home. In fact the open sound is quite incredible. They don't have a cheap sound at all, or a cheap look for that matter. The lathing is far better on these than other intermediate cymbals. I would say they are actually quite comparable to new beats in pitch, but have the paiste glassyness. Very expressive and wide range, nice solid chick. Been playing for 24 years and these are as nice as any hi hats out there. For the money you can't go wrong.

So-So.

By Andrew

from Kent, WA

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

I will agree that for the price, you can't really find much better. But I was never incredibly satisfied with them. I'm on a pretty limited budget, so after debating between xs20's and these, picked up a pair. Granted, the value is unbeatable, but only if you're a starting drummer with little experience would I reccomend them. The med's seem pretty durable and can withstand hard playing. Various things I don't like... For the style I play, they aren't responsive enough and don't give off a very clean sound. Since I play lots of groove, I need something really responsive and fast, similar to Chad Smith. The closed sound is decent, a little to thick for my liking. If you play with your hats open often, I for sure wouldn't reccomend these because they're very dirty sounding while open. Just kinda sounds like metal on metal. Then again I may be expecting too much from a pair of $130 hi hats. My suggestion is if you're a beginner, intermediate, or drummer on a budget in need of a temporary fill-in, by all means, pick these up. Otherwise, I'd highly suggesting looking into some K's. Heavy price tag, but they'll get the job done in the studio and on the stage.

Excellent Hats

By Jayson M.

from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

When my more expensive hats cracked and I bought these in a pinch, I was surprised at the great quality sound I got when I played live and in the recording studio. I would recommend these to beginners as well as advanced drummers. For the price you pay for the sound you get, this is a steal.

Holy freakin crap.

By Some guy you probably don't know

from Florida

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

Wow.The PST5 line impressed the pants off me again. $116 of awesomeness. Let it be know that I know good hi-hats. I've played everything from Meinl HCS to Zildjian A Customs and K Customs.Closed:Phenomenal. The perfect tone for me. Some may like it a bit higher. Nice and firm, minimal overtone.Open:HOLY CRAP!!! I swear Paiste is getting ripped off on this line of cymbals. This thing rolls on almost as long as the A Custom hats. Nice and crisp, well balanced, even on my crappy stand. These things are LOUD!!! My mom came in when I first started playing it with one eyebrow in the ceiling. About the same volume as A Customs (sorry I keep comparing them, they're the highest end cymbals I've played).Chick:Can't say much, as I have a crappy stand that doesn't really let me do that. I assume it's halfway decent. All in all, BEAST. If your a $ minded drummer who doesn't want to sacrifice quality, this line is for you. Phenomenal hats.

WOW!

By Matt

from Oregon

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

These are the best hats in the price range. They are very articulate, full, yet can be very delicate sounding at the same time. You can get tons of different tones and colors out of them. They're really great. Much more musical than Zildjian ZBT's or XHT's. Sabian XS20's sound really dull and boring when you put these next to them. Give them a try. They're good for newbies and intermediate players, or if your'e on a budget and want hats that sound just as good as ones costing twice as much. They're definately worth it.

Best Hat's ever used...

By Mikey G

from Valley Stream

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Hi-Hats:

First off, you cannt even look at the picture to see that beauty of these cymbals. They are 10 times more appealing then the picture. They have that perfect 'chick' sound & an even better open sound. I can only suggest that you go to your local music shops & listen to these hi hats. They can easily roll with the top lines of cymbals. You will not be disappointed.
