Comments about Paiste PST 3 Essential Set 14/18:
I bought this set when I first got my kit. The cymbals look pretty nice. The hi-hats are fairly good quality. They are even with each other and they produce a pretty loud sound. They aren't fantastic for jazz stuff, but they work nice for funk and also heavier genres. I was surprised with the quality of the crash/ride when I first bought it. Its ride sound is better than its crash sound, but it works good both ways. The crash sound is quick and it has a little bit of ring at the end, but nothing drastic. Its range is pretty narrow. The ride sound sounds best with nylon tipped sticks, and it has a pretty big range depending on where you hit it. It's a little bit quieter than I would like, but it sounds like a ride. When you buy your next cymbal, I would suggest getting a new crash, probably something with a thick sound. Overall, I recommend this set to anyone who needs their first cymbal pack.
