Overview

This Paiste Alpha Rock Crash Cymbal features a brilliant finish with a very bright, full, glassy, and shimmering character. It has a wide range, clear mix, and fairly giving feel-a standard rock crash cymbal.

Alpha cymbals were first launched by Paiste in 1992. Today, the Alpha brand is synonymous with dependability, and the cymbals are well known for their first-class sound and fair prices. The Paiste Alpha Series is now available in a Brilliant Finish, once again advancing these trusted qualities.

The brilliant look is accomplished by skilled craftsmen who hand polish the crash cymbals to a mirror perfect finish in the final production stage. Prior to that, top-notch hi-tech processes give Alpha rock crash cymbals their initial shape and strength. They are further enhanced by traditional hand-hammering.

Paiste Alpha cymbals have become very popular among professional artists, especially in rock and metal. Working with such drummers, Paiste developed new cymbal models to expand the arsenal available for players in these genres.

Paiste cymbals from the Alpha Series have developed a strong following in recent years and are today endorsed by numerous working drummers all over the world, such as Jeremy Spencer of Five Finger Death Punch, Jason Sutter with Chris Cornell, Dave Witte of Municipal Waste, Tommy Portimo of Sonata Arctica, and Steven Spence of Black Tide.

Comments about Paiste Alpha Rock Crash, Brilliant:

Bright, booming crash cymbal. The paiste alpha line is one of the best there is in cymbal making. I bought the 18" rock crash and I had a certain expectation of paiste. It blew me away with the bright crash and long sustain. I can't say enough about the alpha line...there's no question they rock!

Comments about Paiste Alpha Rock Crash, Brilliant:

The response is ok but the overall volume seems kind of weak. Even when I really lay into it, it never gets too loud. Seems well made. With it's characteristics, I think it will be good for recording, as it probably won't even need any kind of compression because it is sort of self limiting. It has a nice tone though. Made in Germany. Middle range in affordability. Overall, I wish I could make it really crash louder, but it will fit in ok with other cymbals I plan on getting from Paiste. Actual name on package said it was an Alpha "B" 17" Rock Crash. What does the "B" stand for?..I don't know.

Comments about Paiste Alpha Rock Crash, Brilliant:

I own the 18" and the 20". I've had both for just over 10 months. They sound great and they're incredibly loud. I play REALLY hard. They held up beautifully.
But alas, the 20" started to crack, so i cut out the cracked part, the next show, it cracked again. so i cut it out again. But, then the 18" started to crack. Im not bothering to cut that one out. So, then the 20" cracked, AGAIN. So, they're both officially off my set.
Considering that 9-10 months is a normal point for a cymbal to start cracking, i'm not sure what to do.
They're great cymbals, great for bigger places, a lot of body, deep tone. Just good cymbals, can't go wrong, but they break after a while.

Comments about Paiste Alpha Rock Crash, Brilliant:

Working on upgrading my cymbals across the board to Paiste Alphas, and I certainly have not regretted it. For crashes I have the 17" and 19" rock, plus an 18" medium. They all sound great.

Construction feels solid, brilliant finish looks great, and the sound is as good if not better than many cymbals almost 2x the price in my opinion.

For the money, I don't think you will find a better cymbal than the Alphas. I think I'm now a Paiste convert! Very impressed with these products.

Comments about Paiste Alpha Rock Crash, Brilliant:

these crashes originally caught my eye because of their look and price, but after playing them, i can say that they are the best crash ive ever played, apart from sabian HHXs. They are VERY loud, and on the heavy side, with a strong punch and a shimmering, roaring sound.

          working man's cymbal

          By kinsley, kansas

          from kinsley, kansas

Comments about Paiste Alpha Rock Crash, Brilliant:

I have equipped my Fibes drumset with Paiste Alphas and only have one Zildjian crash added. however, I am taking the Zildjian off and replacing it with an Alpha 18" Rock Crash." sonically the Paiste Alpha series are superior to even some of the costly other cymbals. these are, by far, the workingman's cymbal.

          forget zildjian

          By skintag

          from Massachusetts

Comments about Paiste Alpha Rock Crash, Brilliant:

Paiste has figured it out. The alpha series is awesome. I used to play all zildjian and now I switched to all paiste alpha's. The alpha rock hats are great and sound a lot better than 13" K/Z zildjians I used to play. I bought and 18" alpha rock crash and matched it with an 18" alpha medium crash. They sound sweet. The alpha series and the pst 5 series can't be beat for the price and quality.
