Very balanced hi-hat with a healthy dose of dirt and a note of darkness.

The Paiste Reflector Hi-Hat cymbals provide a fairly dirty, cutting, and rich sound with a wide range and complex mix. It has a very responsive feel; is full, barking and piercing, yet with a somewhat cushy open sound with a tight chick sound. I played these on demo drum set at my local guitar center, and by FAR the best sounding hi-hats i have heard. I currently have Mastersound hi-hats which sound great but if i could go back i would of def. chose these instead

  • Paiste Sig. Reflectors

As reviewed by Jude on 5/20/2010

Ok, I play in 2 bands, the band at my church, and a hardcore band. You might be shocked to hear this, but I use these in my church band, in my hardcore band I use Sabian AAX fast hats. When I first used these I was surprised at how heavy they were. I also have a Paiste Sig. 16'' crash and it is the thinest cymbal I have played, so I thought these would still be really light. Off the top of my head im going to say they weigh about 10 pounds. If you dont know, that is VERY, VERY heavy. Seeing how heavy they were I thought they would be very useable in a hardcore setting, but they didnt really match, but when I set with the gospel/jazz/rock setting at my church, everyone was blown away at how well they fit in. They have a very deep "chunk" when you step on them, and a nice sound when you hit them closed that is somewhat bright and somewhat dark depending how hard you hit. The hats are great for everything but hardcore metal stuff. So if your wanting hats for metal, look elsewhere. As for jazz or light rock, they are great, but the price, not so much. For this price you can get some Zildjian Constotinoble. So just think about it.
