This is the best ride cymbal I've played. Sensitive, defined, loud, with a bell that shatters glass. I've used this in blues, funk, rock, hard rock, metal, and even jazz (though admittedly it's not an ideal cymbal for unplugged situations). This is for the drummer with distinguished tastes in musical instruments.
i went to paiste's sound room and took alot of time and care in choosing this cymbal. i was relying on the cymbal sounding the same as it did in the sound room. it did , i just wasnt prepared for how loud it was.but i am used to that now and i still think it is a great cymbal. paiste's signature alloy really makes for good rides and hi-hats, bright and pingy.(i love their crash cymbals as well)
This ride is by far my favorite. I use to have the Zildjian A custom 20" projection ride, its still a great ride but i liked the 21" dry heavy ride way more because of its bright, high pitched metallic sounds with bright pronounced ping over dark complex wash. The sustain is medium long with a volume of medium to very loud. There is nothing i don't like about this ride, although, when i play the ride gets so loud that i can feel the vibration on my feet from the ride. Its a very strong, cutting ride for articulate, loud playing. Get the 21" its way better and more worth it than the 20"
