Best hats I' ever owned

I've owned some great quality hats in the past. The first pair were Zildjian 14" K/Z hats which I still like today. Reminded me of the Paiste Sound Edge, but not quite. I've always been disappointed with almost all hats as I've felt them to be flat-pitched, regular, unresponsive and way too generic in sound, 13" hats being the worst IMO. I want some musical hats, high-pitched, and with a great tone. The next set of hats I owned for the past 14 years is the Paiste Signature 14" Sound Edge hats. I was never really satisfied with these hats as I've always wanted that Bonham live hi-hat sound from TSRTS, not his studio sound. I always knew he had the 2002 15" hats, but I thought I couldn't go wrong with the new top of the line Signatures. But I never realized the extra inch that Bonham had would make all the difference in pitch. Since they're not cheap hats, it took me years to make the plunge. And man do I wish I had bought them years ago!! These hats have that high pitch chick that Bonham had in The Song Remains The Same. Although of course he had them EQ'd. But these are the most musical hats I've ever played. Not as responsive as the 14" hats, but I quickly got used to them and I can't go back to my 14" SE hats now. I've always liked drummers like Bonham and Alex Van Halen who have that sweet Paiste hi hat sound and brought it to the front. All hats are not the same, pick them just like you would pick any other of your cymbals.

Too washy for my taste

There is a nice chick with the foot but thats about it. When struck with the stick it sounds a little heavy which would fit in metal and hard rock. when opened it is really washy which for some it is a sound much wanted but also some not wanted. Before you buy these make sure you try them out, because it may or may not be the sound you want.

Best Hi-Hats Ever Made !!!

The Paiste sound edged hi-hats are absolutely breath taking. They have the most excellent sound and Quality you could ask for. I mean it when I say the best. These hi-hats sound crispy clean due to the ridges on the edges. To make it better, these hi-hats have outstanding volume. to hear them cling together is like striking a cymbal. it's that loud. I have been using these hi-hats for several years and honestly haven't had one problem. the chink sound is to die for. The same goes for when you strike them. These cymbals have awesome sound, outstanding volume, and are guarenteed to last you a very long time. I have said this once before and I will say it again. These are the best hi-hats ever made. Without a doubt. You won't be wasting your money.

Great hats heavy players

I own the 15 inch hi hats and I will say it does take time to get used to them due to their difference in sound but seriously this hi hats are amazing for rock/punk/funk and above. THEY ARE NOT INTENDED FOR SOFT PLAYERS! If you are loud on your set and you want something to last.. PAISTE is the answer for you!

Paiste 15" 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats

I gotta say, These cymbals are the finest hi-hats my money can buy. The differences between 14" and 15" are indescribable. A hard, cutting sound that is not muddy, but very sharp, cutting thru any type of music you can play. The "chick" sound is biting, and crisp. No traditional "clangy" sound here. you can effortlessly underplay, and still project the nuances you work so hard to achieve. Not designed for head bangers, but for the player with a degree of finesse in his or her playing. No need to bash, these cymbals can be heard for miles. Just remember John Bonham, he used them.
