The Stripped 58 is a vintage-inspired singlecut perfect for more traditional single-cutaway players, the 58 has a classic, resonant voice that is eminently recordable and gig ready. It is also instantly comfortable to players who grew up playing short scale guitars. The œStripped 58 will take everything you™ve got and keep asking for more¦get your hands on one today.

The Stripped 58 incorporates the following new features:

V12 Finish
Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood's inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars' new "V12" finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, "V12" is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. "PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments," said Paul Reed Smith.

Pattern Neck Shape
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of their quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. Perfected after years of prototyping, the new "Pattern" neck is an updated Wide Fat PRS neck style based on Paul's pre-factory design. These necks were found on the instruments built for Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton, and Howard Leese from the late '70s to the mid '80s.

Whether in woodworking, machining, or cast and die work, patternmaking is the art of arriving at a perfect standard that can be duplicated or used to create new designs from by "offsetting." All PRS necks came to be as a result of offsetting from this original, Wide Fat design.

PRS Two-Piece Adjustable Bridge
Previously only prototyped on Private Stock guitars, the new PRS two-piece adjustable bridge now comes standard on select PRS models: the SC 58 and the JA 15. The bridge plays a crucial role in the tonal path of a guitar by transferring the string' vibrations to the tonewood. When executed well, the bridge will enhance the wood' natural resonance. This two-piece bridge has added weight and mass, creating more contact points, which, in turn, create a more resonant, musical instrument. Similarly, machining rather than casting, gives the brass and aluminum bridge a stronger sound. œI am calling it the ˜new two-piece adjustable sound transfer bridge™ “ I™m very happy, said Paul Reed Smith.

An Improvement on an old classic!!

By Stephen Riker

Comments about PRS Stripped' 58 Electric Guitar:

When I heard about the PRS Stripped 58 I was both intrigued and skeptical. I had to play one!! After getting my hands on one at the Guitar Center in Independence, MO I had to have one! Today my Stripped 58 in Black Gold Burst with a 10 top arrived via UPS! Finish\Playablility: This guitar is absolutely gorgeous! The finish and craftsmanship of this guitar is stunning. The Pattern Neck plays effortlessly and has a nice vintage feel to it. The bridge saddles are nice and smooth on the palms of your hands. The guitar has a nice resonance and sustain even when played acoustically. Sound: This is where PRS knocked it out of the park for me. Their 57/08s are excellent pickups. The bridge is nice and crunchy but with the right amount of chunk to it - bright, but never shrill. The neck pickup is equally as good. Its fat and punchy, but not muddy - retaining the same clarity and bite of the bridge pickup. I would describe the overall sound as tight, balanced, and warm. Tuning Stability: This was possibly the most important aspect of the guitar for me as I dont think there is anything more annoying than a guitar that will not stay in tune.. So - would this LP style guitar stay in tune?? Answer... YES! PRS got it right when they designed their headstock. If you look at a PRS and a Gibson LP headstock side by side you will notice that PRS shaped their headstock so that the strings would angle much less than your traditional "3 tuners per side" design. This (along with the aid of a graphite nut and locking tuners) reduces friction, prevents slipping and makes for a Les Paul style guitar that actually stays in tune!! Bottom Line: The PRS Stripped 58 looks great, plays great, sounds great, and stays in tune great! It's not cheap. Give one a shot and see what you think! My apologies for the super long review!! Hope it will be helpful! -Stephen

Comments about PRS Stripped' 58 Electric Guitar:

I bought my Stripped 58 2 days ago and I have 4 or 5 hours of playing on it now. This is the best sounding guitar I have ever played. The short scale makes it easy to play and the 57/08 pickups sound awesome. The range of sounds that I can get just by turning the tone knobs is impressive. It came completely flawless. I own 10 guitars and have been playing for 20 years. I can't find anything to complain about on this guitar. The tuning keys are great, the inlays are gorgeous, it plays like a dream, sounds great, and looks fantastic. It is not cheap ,but you get what you pay for when it comes to guitars. I could not find a Les Paul that even came close to this quality for under $3000. Go play one.
