Carlos Santana's influence as a PRS guitar player led to the development of Paul Reed Smith's SE electric guitar series, which launched in 2001. In honor of that legacy, PRS has created the all-new SE Santana. The SE Santana is the first guitar in the SE series offered with a 24-1/2" scale length and is also the first SE created using the same silhouette as Carlos's revered American-made PRS models. The wide-fat mahogany neck promotes fleet fingering on the 22 frets adorned with "old school" birds while PRS-designed humbuckers offer clear, well-defined tones from clean, to crunch, to hot, full-crank mode. The PRS-designed tuners and PRS-designed tremolo keep you in tune no more how adventuresome your playing may become. This guitar and its appointments honor Santana's skill and style better than ever and offer players great quality and value. Case Sold Separately.

Okay its very easy to give this guitar 5 stars, I just got it delivered 30 minutes ago and right outta the box this axe is setup with low action and the tone just oozes sex! I love Carlos Santana and I play a lot of his music with my band I can easy get his early tone and modern tone. The tremolo system is really good too you can dive and still stay in tune! I got the Santana yellow and I've gotta say the finish is just immaculate! I'm definitely gigging with this bad boy tomorrow at 2 shows, ill take my les Paul (Gibson) but as a back up! Anyways you can buy one of these for well under a grand, or you can go spend well OVER a grand for an American PRS.. IMOHO this is one of the best guitars I've ever owned!
Just got the PRS SE Santana, and i can't be more satisfied with all the features this guitar has in, the sound of the signature pickups are incredible for all the styles of music, not just santana bluesy style, you can play anything you want with it. The neck is confortable and faster than the gibson les paul's neck, the tremolo stays in tune very well although it has no locks on it. The paint on it its just beatiful.
I was looking for an alternative to my Epiphone Les Paul Standard that would be lighter, have a different sound, and hopefully be easier to play. I had played my son's PRS SE Singlecut and really liked the feel of the neck and the lighter weight...and after reading the reviews, decided to try one of these. It's a beautiful guitar, I have the Orange and it is striking. Features-wise, it seems like a cross between a Gibson Les Paul Junior and a Stratocaster. The body, set neck and humbucker pickups are Gibson like, the bridge with tremolo bar, knob placement and set up, and pickup switch are Fender-like. The tone is very adjustable, far more than my Les Paul. Small changes really change the sound. The neck pickup is fat and can approximate the "Les Paul- type" sound, the bridge pickup is much hotter and cuts through for solos. For me, I need to reduce the tone on the bridge pickup, where on my Les Paul, I max both tones. It doesn't quite capture the Les Paul tone, but you can get close. You can play all the way up the neck without any restrictions and the knob placement makes it easy change volume or tone, or pickup. The tone goes from super clean and bell like, to a little break-up or full-on distortion. It is a perfect weight- has some presence, but not back breaking like a couple hours with the Les Paul. The finish was good, but not perfect. Some of the black binding on the neck is not evenly colored, but not bad enough to send it back. Also, mine ended up needing a set up. At first, I had a buzz in the 1st and 2nd fret on the low E and A strings, I adjusted the truss rod, but I couldn't quite get rid of it. My local shop did it and didn't even charge the whole set up cost because they said it didn't need much. Now, it plays with no buzzing anywhere. I have only had it about two months, so it's probably too early to talk about reliability. For the money, this guitar is a steal! To get my Les Paul sounding good, it took a set up, new pick-ups (Golden Age Parsons Street ALNICO II's- which I also recommend), new CTS pots and new wiring- about $250.00 worth of upgrades. No upgrades needed here, maybe a set up like I needed, and you are off. Even the stock strings are pretty decent and the gig back is really good quality. Much better than the Gibson or the Fender bags.
Ordered this online "blind" without actually having played it - based on its looks and rave reviews. The price was right, and I even got it with another $100 bucks knocked off during a recent sale. Timing is everything. I opted for the Orange which is more of a yellow-gold, and more beautiful than I expected. (Check out the photo I uploaded which shows off the flame maple top.) Great size and balance, and plays easily. Even though there is only 1 volume and 1 tone control, with a 3-way switch between the HBs, I really like the variety of sounds I get. I actually prefer having only 2-controls over the 4 I have on my Epiphone Dot. Added a set of Cobalts on this one and I expect to play this one for a long time. I'm not a pro, but I feel like one when I've got this one strapped on.
This guitar is excellent. It has a very nice paint job and texture in orange and has a very neat whammy bar. On top of that it has a very Van Halen sound, which I love, because Eddie Van Halen is the best.
I played 25 different guitars at Guitar Center while shopping, and when I picked this one up I knew I had to buy it. It has such crisp clear sound and the strings are very close to the frets, which makes it super easy to move around, and it's not hard on the fingers. I feel like the value of this guitar is much greater than what I paid. It feels like a custom made guitar just for me. If you buy this you won't be disappointed. They had a $150 off coupon which took the sting out of the price. I bought the Santana yellow, which has really pretty woodwork and craftsmanship, but I wish there were a larger variety of colors available than just four. I will not need to trade up from this guitar in the future. Nothing could come close.
This is my first expensive guitar and my 2nd overall. My first was a fender squier from a starter pack. That starter pack was horrible, I did not get the sound I wanted etc. As, time passed by I received the money to buy my dream guitar which is this!! If your looking to buy this guitar it is a must!! Well I would try it out first and see how you like it because I only picked it up to play carlos santana songs with my vox vt20+ amp. It is good for blues, jazz, soft rock, rock etc it is not really a hard rock, metal type of guitar so I wouldn't recommend to people who play that type of genre. Overall, it is well worth it. It even comes with a really good gig bag with all of its accessories like truss rod, whammy bar etc.
I was looking for a guitar to half compliment and half oppose my '93 Hamer special. I was playing some SG's, and one of the sales people pointed out that this PRS played very well. I will be honest that I was a tad skeptical about a Korean PRS, but all that was blown out the window once I starting playing this guitar. I am honestly amazed that this is an import. From the way it looks to the way it plays, all around it is amazing. Put this guitar against the high-end Ephiphone's, and you will quickly see there is no comparison. The PRS pick-ups in this thing go from SG highs to Les Paul lows with the flip of the toggle switch. I do wish there were separate tone knobs for each pick-up, but I can easily live without them because of everything else this guitar has. I play rock of all era's and some Americana, and this guitar can do it all. I even play this through my Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, and it's amazing. If you buy this guitar, you will not be let down.
I picked up the PRS santana 3 days ago.I have to say after owning numerous strats and Les pauls over the years, this is by far the most perfectly balanced and beautiful guitar Ive ever owned.I have never played or felt a more smoother neck in the 15 plus years that Ive been playing!!Kudo:s to PRS,great job!!!!!
The SE prs is a great sounding guitar. I bought mine in December 2011. I wanted the orange but decided to get the yellow one and it's beautiful. The tone is exactly the way Carlos' tone is along with my Fender Super Champ XD tube amp. I am a beginner but the look and sound is all professional. Very pleased with the price. I also purchase an Ibanez S9 tube screamer that make this guitar scream. I recommend this to anyone thinking about purchasing a guitar.
