The band Periphery has become a force to be reckoned with in the progressive metal scene with their unique "djent" sound, poly- rhythmic patterns and soaring melodies. Guitarist Mark Holcomb helps achieve this full, lethal sound with PRS guitars loaded with Seymour Duncan Mark Holcomb Signature Pickups dubbed “Alpha” and “Omega.”

“As someone who’s been obsessed with PRS since my youth, it has been an absolute dream to be able to develop my own PRS signature guitar. For nearly the past year, we’ve designed this instrument with the intention of making it not only unique, but something that would satisfy my every taste as a guitarist, from both a technical and aesthetic standpoint. The result is something that truly stands on its own in the PRS lineup, and a guitar that I can undoubtedly say is the best instrument I’ve ever laid my hands on.”
- Mark Holcomb, Periphery

The SE Mark Holcomb model truly stands on its own in the PRS lineup and delivers addictive playability thanks to some unique specifications, including a 24-fret, 25.5 in. scale length wide thin satin maple neck with 20 in. radius ebony fretboard. Holcomb’s signature pickups provide the right amount of output and articulation whether you’re playing sophisticated chords or solos and whether you’re playing alone or working in the mix of a band. Other specifications include a quilted maple veneer, black chrome hardware, and a 3-way blade pickup switch with push/pull tone knob for coil splitting.

My new go to

By Heatofosho

Comments about PRS SE Mark Holcomb Electric Guitar:

I had been looking for a new guitar in the $600-$900 range primarily for lower tunings and heavy music. I was about ready to purchase a Jackson, of which I already have two, when I found out about this guitar. After reading as much as I could about it I decided to take a chance on what I thought had the potential to be a better overall instrument than the Jackson. After a little over a month of owning it I'm extremely pleased that I spent $200 more and went with the SE. I love how flat the 20' radius is, I love how clean all the fret work is, no sharp edges or marks. The satin neck is as nice as I hoped. The paint job is really cool, the push/pull tone knob is awesome, and the Alpha/Omega Pickups are a perfect match for what I wanted. it's simply a great feeling, great playing guitar. If this guitar is something you're even considering, its probably the right choice.

Comments about PRS SE Mark Holcomb Electric Guitar:

At first I admit I was not a huge fan of the 20'' inch fretboard radius but once you get use to it smooth sailing ahead. I would say my intial impression of this guitar is great the build is nice and overall thickness of the guitar is impressive. I play it through a Mesa Tripple Rec and it chugs and screams. The pickups sound extremely clear and punchy at the same time. The paint job is the best I have seen on a SE it really pops. Only time will tell how the electronics hold up but PRS SE guitars tend to have a good track record with that. Overall if your a fan of Metal music and Prs guitars this is the one for you.
