You are not going to find a better guitar for the money...period! Everything is perfect on this guitar, from the attention to detail on every little part, to the hardware, its way better than what I was expecting. If I had to be extremely nit picky, I would say that the heel pocket could be a little better so you can get up to the 22nd fret a little easier, but it is still very easy to get there, and myself coming off of a Les Paul to this, it is a HUGE improvement! I would recommend anyone looking for an extremely good and very versitile guitar in this price range, BUY THIS!
Well, this guitar is very simple, which for me is the way that I like it, but the pickups are really good. And the stock tuners are really good as well, and the bridge design is amazing, its very comfortable, and the string does not move. Plus if you use both pickups and bring the volume down to around 4 or so on the guitar, it gives it almost a piezo quality.
The craftsman ship on this guitar or at least the one I got, is out of this world. It completely blew me away the second that I started playing it. Oh and let me say that the pictures of this guitar really don't do it justice if you haven't seen it in real life, it is beautiful!
If I hadn't looked at the price tag on this guitar before I started playing it, I easily would have though this guitar to be around the 1,500 - 2,000 range. It is really just stunning. PRS really went over the top with this guitar. But I have never played one of the really expensive PRS's so it just makes me wonder, if this one is this good, how good are they?!

Bought this today and I had to adjust the action via rod immediately. Also it needed a bridge adjustment. The strings it comes with are weak and need replaced. I will also be replacing the pickup switch and pots. I will hold off on the humbuckets for now but since I am in the habait of replacing most of them in the guitars I have, I feel pretty confident that I will replace them at some point. The Korean pickups leave much to be desired most of the time. I do like the feel, weight, and finish. It maybe because of the newness and the cheap strings but retunning was a constant. Not sure I would buy a PRS SE again but I will certainly be saving for an American made version of a semi hollow PRS.

Comments about PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a winner from PRS---yet it seems like they will discontinue this model soon! Lightweight(easy on the back), as loud as you want it(I play it through a Fender Blues Jr.). Workmanship is very nice---there was only a few lines of darker discoloration in the woodgrain on the back. Two knobs--one for volume and one for tone---who needs anymore? I like the 'canoe paddle' cutout that is reminiscent of Rickenbackers. Perfectly bookmatched maple veneer in a 'tiger stripe' pattern. Action isgood, plays nicely. You read many reviews about lower-end electrics having to have their pickups replaced because they sound lousy----not so here, they sound just fine.

I had one of these before and sold it----now I found another one and have one to play again! If I ever have to part with my higher end PRS, I'll still have this one----and tonally will not hear much difference! This guitar may not be a 'looker' onstage because of it's unique design, but with the tones it produces, who cares? Kudos to Paul Reed Smith…if you've ever attended one of his seminars and heard him speak, you can tell his goal in the SE line has been consistency and quality…and he's achieved it at a very reasonable price point.

Comments about PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I ordered mine 5 years ago and had it delivered to the store. When it arrived we opened it up in the store to inspect it. I expected it to need a set-up and tuning - BUT it was perfect out of the box! Has been ever since. However, I caution, recent production that I have played in various stores can't compare to this guitar. The look and feel has changed dramatically. First, mine has the crescent pearl dot inlays - don't be enamored by the progressive bird inlays as they are cosmetic to mask the poor quality. Also, the maple top on mine is standout, while current production fails to highlight the distinct wood grain characteristics of the maple top. Finally, the feel on mine is touch response, while I've found the action to be all over the place on other production models I've played. The long and short of it - mine's great! But yours may not be near as good. Try it before you buy it!

I've been playing for 45 years - have had a lot of guitars - fenders, epiphones, Ibanez', g & l, washburn, dean - my favorite is my 1964 Gibson Melody Maker(double cut away, 1 single coil) and my Alvarez Tree of Life acoustic & this PRS - set up right out of the box - great tone and easy to play - light to handle which I like - pups sound really good thru my Kustom '72 Coup - get one if you want a semi-hollow - you want be disappointed - I would recommend this to anyone -

        A "Keeper"

        By Patrick

        from Oregon

Comments about PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I owned many guitars and played more. The PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollowed Body is one of my "Keepers". The play-ability and tonality trump most of my other guitars. I know that I will be able to play this guitar when I am old and can't tolerate the weight of a solid body axe on my neck and shoulder, which is sooner everyday. Play-ability; the neck is fast and well balanced to the body, the frets are fairly flawless, the scale length and upper range has correct intonation and easily reachable and fret able. Tonality; really good Korean humbuckers that are clean in lower settings and sparkle in mid volume, with a great break-up growl all the way up. Really versatile, even with just a 3-way switch, volume and tone. Get the PRS sound and quality at a bargain price. My amp, my ear, and my audience cannot tell the difference.

Comments about PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

Just starting back with guitar since high school (1986) I searched for the "perfect" axe for weeks. There were at least 10 plus that fit what I was looking.
I decided on the PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow because of the reputation that PRS has had with their products as a whole. I loved the looks of the guitar and I could not find a negative against it anywhere. To top it off, Musician'sFriend had a deal where I picked it up for an unbelieveable price. What a steal.

I play it with a Fender Mustang IV and it can handle all 100 channels with perfect tone. I am practicing chords again and I find myself just strummimg for minutes to just hear the crisp perfect tone sound. The axe is real easy to play and I would recommend it to anyone whom is just starting to experienced rockers.

I have no regrets here and in fact, I am looking to pick up the PRS Hollowbody II with the Blue Crab finish. PRS builds beautiful pieces of art!!

Comments about PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I've been playing guitar since I taught myself 50 years ago. This guitar plays like a much more expensive instrument. Coupled with my Fender Tube DeVille amp, it'll play any style I want. I play blues, funk, rock and reggae, and this works for everything. I was surprised by the speedy action and great feel of the neck and fretboard. I have a variety of other guitars and the only one I like as much as this is my old Gibson. Because this one is light and easy to play, it's my new go-to guitar.

Comments about PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar:

I ordered this guitar right after I sold my Fender american select HSS. This guitar is less than half the price of the fender when bought new and plays twice as good IMPO. The guitars action was a little high for me when I first received it. I made a slight adjustment and this thing plays great! I ended up purchasing the natural finish just because I wanted something a little bit different looking from my other guitars. I couldn't be happier, it has a very nice look to it and the fit and finish on it is top notch. Great craftsmanship for a mid-price range guitar. this guitar is very light. It is easy on the shoulders and doesnt bother me when I stand up and play it for hours. Currently I am playing through a Digitech RP1000 and a fender blues Jr and couldnt be happier with the tones I am able to get out of it.

I would suggest trying one for yourself before you buy another guitar. Don't let the SE on the headstock turn you away. This thing plays and sounds as good, if not better than a lot of guitars costing twice as much.

This guitar plays as well as many higher-end models producing a warm, clear tone. Extremely well-balanced guitar that is very comfortable to play standing as well. Highly recommend as a 'next level' guitar for those looking to upgrade from their initial guitar.
