Now, this is a wonderful instrument!!. I got mine las week (BD present to myself). I originally wanted the natural semi-acoustic one, but researching the PRS site I came across this one, that did it. It looks beautiful (black cherry), but also it has a tremolo, 24 frets and the THIN neck (not available on the 22 fret, remember this when shopping). I have small hands, short fingers and prefer this type neck and while I do not play all the way to the 24th fret, the easy access it allows is great. So how does it sound?? Amazing. Even before I got it, I was thinking to alter it several ways: flatten the tremolo, I don't use it, install coil split toggles or pull out knobs, and of course thought that it would not sound like the expensive ones. Boy was I wrong !! I'm not changing a single thing on it, none. The tremolo stays, no splitting, nothing!. I can't put it down and it's staying AS IS. Amazing sound. I'm still finding new tones with any minor adjustment of volume or tone knob and pick up cjoice. That's not all. The PRS gig bag that comes with it is by far the best gig bag I have ever seen! They thought of everything, just look at the bag and you'll buy the guitar!! ha ha, no, the guitar is good also. I'm glad I got it after so many years of indecision, mostly the scale, but this guitar rocks, right out of the (great) bag, go get it now.

Quality Guitar

By J. Stone

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Iv'e had this guitar for some time now and it plays great! The sound from this guitar is unique as if it has its own voice. It is a beautiful PRS finish and the inlays are way cool too. It is my main guitar and I have a fender strat and a les paul. I love both of them too, but I just keep going back to the PRS! Tune it before a gig, and it stays there. No regrets buying this one! If it were stolen, I would absolutely go buy another one!

One of the best value ever for a guitar

By Ferocious Pursuit

from Santa Clarita, CA

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

This was my 15th guitar. (13th electric) I currently own Gibbies, Epis, Schecters, Boutique, Jackson, Ibanez, ESP, and a Fender. Clearly I don't need another guitar but this PRS SE 24 Custom I have been eyeing for since it was introduced is phenomenal. I sat at a the Guitar Center Sherman Oaks yesterday and played one immediately after I found the 24. It's easy to find Custom 22s but not 24s. They had it at EVEN LOWER price than what shows online due to no gigbag being included. Craftman-ship is awesome compared to US made. Pickups aren't exactly for squealing metal but very hot for overdriven sound. Clean sound is just pure gold. Neck is VERY fast even compared to RGs and my Kirk Hammett sig. This is a rock solid guitar best bang for the buck. If you see one, grab one immediately. No regrets. Guaranteed.

Amazing guitar for the price!

By Brian C.

from Miami, FL

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

The PRS SE Custom 24 is something special. For a $600-$700 guitar you really get some incredible quality. For starters, you don't see 24-fret guitars at this price very often. The guitar is lightweight and highly playable. The finish is clean and looks great. The thin neck offered on this model is a real treat: it's a fast neck that will not hinder your playing, no matter what your style, and the double-cutaway shape lets you reach the 24th fret with ease. The two humbuckers sound perfect, and the 3-way toggle switch and tone control let you easily switch from a bass-rich sound to a treble sound. The trem system works very well, and the gig bag included is good enough to maybe even keep you away from a hardshell case. The only additonal thing I would possibly want is another tone control, but switching tones is easy already. If you buy this guitar, you won't be disappointed.

Jy's 3rd PRS

By Jason D.

from Festus, Missouri

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I've had a CE24, a custom24 with birds, and my new custom se 24. After a quick set up,this guitar play's as good as my previuos 2. The only thing this one don't have my other 2 did is the PRS locking tuners. And i could change a string in one minute with the tuners on my CE, or Custom24. But beyond that this guitar is well worth the money. Can't get enuf playing time in! And the service @ Guitar Center was A-1 as always.

BUY THIS GUITAR!!!!!!!!

By Josh

from Vancouver, WA

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar for Christmas this year and can hardly put it down! I got just the PRS SE Custom (22 frett). It may not sound quite as good as a Gibson Les Paul, but it sure plays better. I've played Gibson's that don't compare to this in playability. Stays in tune great too. Great beginning guitar, or if your experienced too. Plays very good through an amp or not. Bottom Line: amazing guitar...BUY!

Guitar Private

By mitch_r

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Just joined the PRS Guitar Family. Being a lifetime Bass player, my guitar playing was a drag. I recently bought (2) cheap squire's(good to start off) . I didn't know about the PRS SE Customs. I did a little research on the web and the price was too good to pass up. This baby shipped in real fast, no scratches or compromises, etc. Its just like getting a brand new car ! Nobody else is going to drive this baby and my playing is a pleasure to work at. I play a Fender Jazz bass and it helped my bass playing etc. So this step up to the SE Custom is similar. Do your own research and make the plunge and you won't be disappointed. Sounds Great, Looks Great ! I hope I didn't lay it on too thick.

Awesome Guitar!

By JW

from Winchester, KY

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

The PRS SE Custom 24 is an awesome guitar. I always wanted a PRS but never thought I could afford one but at this price I could not pass it up. Don't let the price fool you, this is one of the most incredible deals of the century. The moment I put the guitar in my hands I could tell this was one professional guitar. The action is set perfectly right out of the box. The fretboard is actually so shiny you can see reflections off of it. The frets are nicely sized and the polish on them was nothing short of perfect. The wide-thin neck is perfect for my wide-fat fingers. I have two Strats which have the wide fretboard but are deeper neck. Having the thin neck helps immensely with not only chord progression but plays extremely fast for leads. My SE Custom 24 is the Black Cherry model. The finish on the body, neck and headstock are perfect, once again showing the PRS quality. Get one of these and you won't be sorry. I have the vibrato version and here is something you wont find on any other brand, you can dive the strings all the way down and back--- guess what, your still in tune!! The tone is unlike any guitar you have ever played. You can go from mild to wild with just the turn of the volume knob. At present I have not found a tone that matches that of a Strat in single coil position but hey, that's what Strats excel at. Perhaps I will mod the guitar with PRS parts to make it have single coil sound. You can't go wrong. Get one of these and you won't be sorry. It's everything and more at such an incredible price.

A Work of Art

By Bob

from Syracuse, NY

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

As my review title states, it is a work of art, especially for the price. You just want to show it off! The craftsmanship and finish are second to none. This guitar is a steal; I looked at several other guitars, many at twice the price of the SE. In my opinion, there's no comparison. It has a superb sound clean and it really wails when played with overdrive. And being a newcomer to the guitar, I find it's a really easy instrument to play. Great action up and down the fretboard. It would've been nice if it came with locking tuners, but hey, you can always add them later.

Reasonably good guitar -

By Dennis

from SJ,CA

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Recently bought PRS SE custom 24, this is nice looking guitar except the curved top. It has excellent tonal variety, versatile, for any style. Nice and fast neck, action is great. Few important things I had problem with are: (1) Tuning- You need to do setup to make this guy keep in tune, even without using tremelo it will go out of tune. You need to spend bit time on stretching strings and other setup. (2) The pickups are not hot, even with my Vox advt50XL amp with twin speakers, with volume/master/gain max, it is not loud , mind you, I am trying this in my apartment :-) If you throw some $$ on the setup and on pikcup (only if you are an active musician). this guitar is a good choice. Other than that , as it is , it is a very good guitar with lots of tonal varities, and nice clean/distored sounds and I consider this as over priced guitar.

Awesome guitar

By Lex W.

from Denver Colorado

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

This is really a great investment. I usually get midrange priced guitars so I dont have to worry about some butt head stealing or breaking a $3k guitar but after playing and recording with this guitar you really wont know the difference. It's all in the fingers anyways! The pickups are hot but smooth and clean. The construction of the neck thru is solid! I think the tuners are great for the price but might wanna check out the locking tuners for a few extra bucks. The only problem I got was the hot pickups were actually getting extra sustain from the vibration of the tremolo springs so I threw some black duct tape around the springs and it's beyond perfect now! All around it's solid... Im glad I got it.

I'm no longer addicted to Stratocasters!

By EJ

from Raleigh, NC

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

All I can say is WOW!!! Every electric guitar I have ever owned was a Stratocaster. I love Fender Stratocasters and will play them forever. I never thought I would ever purchase another style of electric guitar UNTIL today. I went to my local Guitar Center today and bought the Red Custom PRS 24. The sound from the humbuckers is amazing. The tremolo is very good for divebombs and the 24 frets make the guitar perfect for those high pitch note bends. The action on the frets is very comfortable so my transition from my usual stratocaster playing was not that big of a jump. If you don't purchase this guitar.. at least play it. You will be suprized

Great Guitar

By Josh Y.

from Vancouver, Wa

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar (new) nearly a year ago... I love it even more than I did then! Its a great guitar for any level of musical ability. It has a fairly slim neck, which enables me to play riffs on high fretts. Pretty good tone, great playability. I'd recommend it as an upgrade of a lower end guitar... or it would be a great backup guitar. Great value for the money you pay for it. I would recommend it to anyone... love it!

Go with PRS

By Fire

from Oswego, New York.

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

There's really no contest when it comes to electric tone. You need to pick up a PRS for sure. I've been playing for around 4 years, maybe more, and I got mine last year in March. I play in 2 bands and the tone is always awesome for me. You won't be disappointed. Also, don't be thrown off because the price is fairly low, it is a very high quality guitar and it's an awesome deal for the price.

Awesome Guitar...

By fefiguer

from Mexico

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

This is a really good guitar. Not as fancy as the +3K custom but it̴s sure worth the money. I moved from acting as a lead guitarist to more of a rhythm player and this guitar fits beautifully. Great presence and sustain with the custom pickups, harmonics without a sweat, definition on each note even at high distortion. Tremolo is really cool. Out of the box the instrument is ready to go, mine came with the intonation a bit off on the 6th string but nothing that can̴t be fixed. Neck is really nice and easy to play. Definitely worth saving the money to buy one.

Finally, A Guitar That Suits My Needs!

By Carl

from Annapolis, Md.

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I was looking for an electric guitar, I wanted it to be red and have a tremolo. I looked and looked, then I went to several guitar stores and played and played. I wasn't even thinking that a PRS could do metal...I was wrong. For a SE, my Custom 24 is one of the best guitars I have ever played in my life. Very comfortable for my small fingers. The thin neck allows me to glide easily up and down the fretboard. The paint job is beautiful. The guitar plays metal, even in drop D and C just as well as the ESP/LTD's, BC Rich's and Schecters I tried. It is also very versatile because it sounds incredible with any style of music. It even stays in tune well after using the tremolo. I traded my see through black LTD F400 for my black cherry SE Custom 24, oh so worth it. I highly recommend the SE Custom 24 to anyone who plays. I am now eying the SE Torero in Gray Black.
