Got one of these about a year ago and it's never let out on me. Guitar sounds great, plays great, and it feels so natural. I mean, this thing feels like a guitar worth a lot more than $650 when you pick it up and play it. The first thing you notice when you pick this thing up is that it's light. Some people may not like this, but it's definitely easier to handle when playing standing up. The guitar has a crisp sound to it, and has a really nice bite to it- it adds to the sound whatever style you're playing. This is THE best guitar out there for less than $700, no doubt. The guitar has given me no issues (and I bought mine used) over the last year I've had it. Handles well tuned down too, for those interested in the extended range. Definitely would recommend this guitar for anybody. Good luck to you guys, hope this review helps everybody out.

Yes, you are on this page for a good reason.. Incredible value

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Beautiful guitar. Incredible value. I've played my share of PRS in my day, and you definitely get a great PRS experience with this SE Custom 24. You get a mahogany body, nicely carved maple top, rosewood fretboard, and birds. The birds are nice too, not plastic junk inlays.. This thing seriously looks like alot of American Custom 24's I've played, and quite frankly its more comfortable and plays better. Come's equipped with .009's, and I think I'm going to leave them on for a while. Alot of players are changing out the nut and tuners for locking tuners...a quite affordable upgrade, but not necessary upon arrival. Plays beautifully, really nice tone unplugged, versatile 25" scale length. Nice tone range from warm to crunchy. Great intonation upon delivery. PRS SE division is not messing around.

Best value guitar out there.

By Dave

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I bought a custom 24 se last year, with moon inlays instead of eagles; It's got a vastly superior playability to any comparable guitar (like an epiphone), and really I think it's even a little better than a lower end gibson. Very smooth. I had an issue with staying in tune with the stock tuners, so I bought a set of spertzel locking tuners, never had a problem since. The pickups are medium output, the bridge is fairly bitey and maybe scooped a little more than I'd like, but nothing terrible. The neck is nice and warm, lots of low end. This is a good enough quality instrument that it would be worth changing out the pickups if there is something you like more. The set neck is very well done and overall the workmanship is very good. Mine is the wide thin neck, I would recommend finding one like that and trying it before you buy a wide fat, personally I don't like the wide fat ones at all, would not buy. They just feel much more clunky. If you are looking for those famous prs curves, save up more money because these are totally flat on top and the binding edges are even a little sharp! I have to wear a right arm wristband with this baby, ouch! The prs tremolo works surprisingly well for some limited metal tricks, but you will not be dimebag divebombing on this! If you want to do that, you probably aren't looking at this instrument, anyway. Overall, if you need a versatile, durable, playable workhorse guitar, you will not find another one this good. I have put this one through the wringer, playing it live in three bands, and it never disappoints!

Great guitar minor glitches

By Todd Dionne

from Lockhart, TX

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

This is a fantastic guitar for the money. I absolutely love the neck, the weight and the balance. I bought the Tobacco Sunburst version and the finish is nice. The bridge pickup is very bright, but that is what I was looking personally looking for. It may not suit some players taste, especially those playing metal, etc. I bought the guitar in store and after playing it knew there would have to be some adjustments. As a matter of fact this guitar was so badly set up ( hopefully not by a GC tech) I imagine that is why it hadn't sold. Come to find out many players are having trouble with the guitar not staying in tune. There are various PRS forums about this issue. I found that my issue was the nut. After inspecting it closely the string guides in the nut were not wide enough for the E A D G strings to slide without binding. I resolved the issue myself by purchasing a micro file set from LOWE's for 2.50 and the finest metal sand paper I could find. I gingerly and gradually widened each string guide and finished with very light sanding. If you do this make sure that you do make the guides deeper! This fix absolutely solved my issue and now after lowering the saddles to their lowest height, adjusting the trem height and a minor neck tweek the action is low and smooth and this has a buttery feel and now never goes out of tune no matter how much I use the trem. Obviously, from all the people reporting the same issue there is a manufacturing/quality control issue regarding the nut, but I would start with this simple fix before replacing saddles, etc or the trem itself. Very happy with this guitar and covers a range of musical styles. I recommend even though I had those initial issues and 5 stars despite because it was such a simple fix.

Great All Around Guitar

By Andy

from Boston, MA

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I picked one of these up at my local GC about 8 months ago and have been loving it ever since. The playability is second to none, the neck profile is thin yet substantial, the action can be set quite low with no dead spots, and the fretboard is silky smooth. The tone is great, and makes it sound right at home in almost any style of music. The maple neck gives it a snappy tone with tight bass, and the 24 fret neck pushes the neck pickup just a little closer to the bridge, which gives the neck pickup a little more definition. Drive sounds with this thing are killer, harmonics are a breeze and it has a nice punchy, full sound. The pickups themselves breathe tone, and are fairly hot, but clean up very nicely, running both pickups sounds very similar to the "in-between" sound of a strat, despite having humbuckers. I was actually quite surprised at how great the clean tones were on this. The only tone I have a hard time getting is a warm neck pickup blues tone, again due to the placement of the neck pickup. The setup was nearly perfect, just required some string height adjustment that was more of a personal preference thing. Other than that, no sharp fret ends, nut was good, trem was good, inlays are done perfectly, knobs and switch are rock solid, and the pots have a great taper and are very useable. This is my 2nd SE and I'll keep going for these over cheaper "budget" guitars because I know PRS stands behind the SE line and makes no compromises in quality. Unfortunately, the SE line doesn't feature coil tap and some of the other high end bells and whistles, but it's still perfectly useable, and feels and sounds great. Definitely check one out!

SICKNESS

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Sick guitar, plays like a dream. The pickups sound great! It is extremely versitile and very lightweight. I am playing it through a vox ac15c1, and let me tell you it is awesome! I bought this guitar to be my main crunchy overdrive guitar, but its clean sound is also amazing!

Great guitar for the price!

By Ty Tabor Fan

from Springfield IL

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I have owned over 100 guitars (including a USA made PRS Custom 24) and I think this is definitely one of the nicest guitars available in this price range. It plays great, was set up well right out of the box, and the finish is beautiful. The stock pickups are pretty good, but I might upgrade to some Seymour Duncans later.

this is awsome

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

i have been playing guitar for 25 years, i have owned and do own a lot of top end guitars.so i have been eyeing this model for around 8 weeks and today i got it in the tri burst finish.this prs plays like a dream, the wide thin neck profile for me is a dream come true.the distortion sounds im pulling out of my lone 6 spider iii amp are amazing.the clean sounds breath taking.this guitar leaves my evh wolfgang special for dead.now im a huge evh fan but this prs tops the wolfie hands down(personally for me that is)the trem on this guitar is crazy,im dive bombing, bar fluttering like it was a floyd, and it returns to zero every time.but that neck, wow i have never felt so at ease with a guitar in 20 years.no setup needed here perfect out of the box.it was like someone made this guitar for me personally.now made in Korea who cares the quality here leaves most of my upmarket models feeling average.so in closing im am so happy i took the plunge and got this guitar.and it wont be my last prs se model.next for me will be the 2012 orianthi in scarlet red.

In awe

By WESTIN MOORE

from Illinois

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I am in disbelief with how nice the quality of this guitar is. For the money, it seriously is the best you can get. I also own a Fender strat, and an Epiphone worn g-400 and it blows them out of the water. Everything about it is perfect for my playing style. The fretboard is fast and smooth, the pickups are hot but clean up nicley. The only con about this guitar is that i personally don't like tremolos, which i just locked down. Overall, quality, playability, sound, and looks just blow other guitars out of the water.

Oriental delight!

By JOSEPH

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Just got my new PRS SE Custom 24 (made in Korea) in sapphire blue which I actually ordered on line without first trying. But, hey, with GC's money back guarantee, I figured: what did I have to lose? Anyway, It's my first PRS and I couldn't be happier. I must say that I was a little apprehensive about the 'thin narrow' neck (my other guitars all have rather 'chunky' necks which I actually prefer) but with all the great reviews on line, I figured it was well worth the risk. Much to my surprise, and delight, the neck feels perfect! Maybe even better than my 1963 Gibson Firebird which I've always loved. The pickups some pretty good, too; especially when you tap the coil to get that single coil sound which was very important to me, especially when I play at church. The set up was perfect right out of the box, and the tremelo works like a charm; it hardly ever goes out of tune. And the finish on this thing is drop dead gorgeous! All in all, it's probably the best guitar for the money out there. Don't worry about it being made in Korea. I also own an Epiphone Wildkat, which I likewise purchased from Guitar Center, that's made in China of all places. No wonder they're going to take over the world, Tiananmen Square and Chairman Mao not-with-standing. Hey, maybe I'm I just sucker for imports; my wife is actually from the Philippines, and I wouldn't trade her for anyone, or anything! Except perhaps that Taylor K26CE Koa Grand Symphony Acoustic I tried out at GC last week.... just kidding, honey. It's like the man says: 'Love one woman... and several guitars! GC rocks! You guys are the best!!!
