Tonal Odyssey

By TonalFreak01

from Huntsville, AL

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

There is finally an affordable guitar for all those sensitive-eared, tonal freaks out there?.. The PRS SE Custom is just that Guitar! I actually purchased mine (the grayish black model with tremolo system) from Guitar Center, being that I could actually place my grubby little paws on the instrument and feel as well as hear the tonal resonance. I closely compared the PRS with an Epiphone Les Paul Standard?. Though the Epiphone Les Paul was a great guitar, pleasing to the eye and ear, it just didn?t have the smooth, mellow, rich, creamy, tonal taste of the PRS. I highly recommend the PRS SE Custom to a moderate level or even professional level guitarist. You will not be disappointed my good friends! (By the way, I would also recommend using a Monster instrument cable. They really bring out the sonic capabilities of the guitar?) Keep jammin? Trey

PRS

By DSDub

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar after looking at many others, mainly the Fender Showmaster and the Epiphone Les Paul Custom. This guitar is, without a doubt, one of the best guitars for the money. I was initially attracted to the finish - a beautiful sunburst on flame maple. The matching headstock is a nice touch. Zebra pickups look cool too. I was suprised by the weight - not as heavy as I thought it would be - for a mahogany body. The tone is PRS all the way - nice definition with good gain. But, I spent a little extra and bought some PRS Dragon II pickups...WELL worth it. More sustain and low end punch, along with a lot more gain. The only thing I would like to have is 2 volume and 2 tone pots like the PRS Tremonti SE. However, I have been able to dial in any sound I've wanted so far. Truly a great guitar!!

Awesome for the $$$

By Greggo

from North Texas

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

I've always been a Start guy but I've wanted a PRS from the first time I laid eyes on one in the early 1990's but could never justify the cost. I'm getting back into guitar after about a 10-year hiatus and wanted a new guitar. I still can't justify $2500 for a Custom 24 (I'm not a working musician) but can easily justify $500 so I picked up the SE Custom. I love this guitar. It plays smoothly after a few adjustments, sounds great (even through my little hybrid amp), and has a beautfiful finish. Before buying this I played several guitars in this price range (Fender MIM Strat's and Epiphone Les Paul's) and for the money, I don't think you buy a better guitar than the PRS Se Custom.

Great Guitar

By jlchamp

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

I own an american made strat that I have customized as well as a fender tele. I wanted a guitar with 2 humbuckers and was interested in the prs. This guitar is amazing. the action is better than my fenders, it sounds great and looks great. It is light weight so playing gigs and rehearsals wont leave you with a sore back. The price can't be beat. I was looking in this price range because I wanted a backup guitar to my strat but I find myself playing this guitar more and more. Great buy you won't be dissapointed.

A Good Guitar

By Kyle Parker

from Dahlgren, VA

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

I played a 2001 Santana SE which is pretty much the same thing as this guitar. PRS screwed up or put some really nice tuners from the real Santana model and put them on most of the 2001 SE's. I'd imagine this is the same thing. Anyway, this is definitely a solid guitar. I played it for 6 years and it never let me down once. Went through the stages of punk rock to jazz/blues to death metal and it served it's purposes well. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to get more serious about playing. Some good additions would be a nice set of EMGs or Seymour Duncans. I prefer the Ceramic plate Duncan's myself, but that's just me.

IN LOVE with this guitar

By Drake

from GA

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

...in a non wierd way. The PRS SE Custom is absolutly amazing. I've had it for about 3 months now and love to play it whenever I can. For the longest time, I was debating getting the 22, or 24, but the both sound amazing. I chose the 22, 1-for the Cherry Sunburst, and 2-it seemed to have a little better tone. One thing that inparticular that is awesome with this guitar is that although it only has one tone knob, you can drastically change the tone by moving it just a little. It is awesome. I recommend buying the 22 with a tremolo bridge, but if you prefer the stop tail, i'm sure it would sound great with that too. Though I have NOT played it with a whammy bar, I imagine one small problem would be it coming out of tune a bit,as mine sometimes does just with a few whole step bends. I plan to get locking tuners though pretty soon so it will help with that problem tremendously. Overall, this guitar makes me happy. I play it with a Boss ME-50 pedal and a small, but decent sounding Marshall MG 15 watt amp. This guitar sounds good with clean sounds, heavy sounds, bluesy sounds, WHATEVER sound you are looking for.

BUY THIS GUITAR

By gabrielflo

from Arlington, Texas

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

I was shopping for my first electric guitar and really thought I was going to end up buying a Epiphone Les Paul Standerd or Custom because I had heard so much about the legendary les pauls and how great they were plus alot of them were on sale and were a reasonable price. That is until I ran into this PRS. I origanally was was going to buy the prs se single cut with a trem for about 665 and it was the same price as this guitar which I got without the trem. The prs se looked and sounded great as well as the epi les pauls I compared them to but nothing sounded as smooth and as clean and felt as perfect and comfortable to play as this guitar. Way lighter than the epi les pauls and had was more sound and sustain than the prs se singlecut. This is an amazing guitar it looks beautiful plays anything you want it to from clean acoustic sounds to hardcore heavy metal. This guitar blew all others in and above its price range outta the water, big thanks to the guitar center in ft.worth they gave me a great deal and ended up saving 120 dollars off the advertised price in store and with that extra 120 I bought a sprider line 6 amp new cables and a road runner guitar case. THANKS PRS FOR MAKING AN AWESOME GUITAR AND THANKS GUITAR CENTER FOR SAVING ME A BUNDLE

Paul Reed Smith se custom

By PRSdude

from Texas

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is amazing. I play it on a 1980's crate with a Mark Tremonti Wah pedal and a Tech 21 NYC distortion. It is very easy to play. I tried to play eruption by Van Halen on it and it sounded just like the recording. I play for the youth group on Wednesdays at the church that I go to. This guitar does exactly what I need it to do when I am on stage and off stage. The tremolo is also great. All you have to do is put it in the hole on the tremolo and tighten it with the small Allen wrench that it comes with. Mine came with a gig bag. The gig bag is very sturdy and padded. It does an excellent job of keeping the guitar safe. Before trying this guitar I tried many others such as Fender, Shecter, Ibenez, Epiphone, Kay, Jackson, ect? They were all great guitars. But then I tried the Paul Reed Smith se custom. It was so much better than the others in my opinion. I definitely recommend buying this guitar. It gets great tone and sustain. It is well worth the money

Love at first sound!

By BIGG T

from Kannapolis NC

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

Ever see something you wanted and wouldn't be content until you had it? This was my problem. I am a vintage Fender Strat collector, from 50-80 year models. I own a 57, 59, and a bunch of 70's strats. And I am a strat freak, but this guitar has totally blown me away. I looked at it on line for 3 months, researched it- and found the best price at Guitar Center.Brought her home, made a few playing adjustments, and I can honestly say this is the smoothest guitar I own! The sound? Just go and try it! You will not leave the store without unless your broke!I actually have not touched a strat in 2 weeks, and I feel a little guilty- but I am addicted. I play professionally, and I wouldn't be scared to step into the studio or on a stage of 20,000 and strike a note. Don't mess around - Get it !!!!!!!!!! BiggT

WOW !!

By PRS Rules !!

from Ohio

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

I just purchased one from Guitar Center today and all I can say is WOW! This is the best feeling, sounding and playing guitar I have ever owned. I was surprised by the quality of the electronics, pots and tuners as well as the bridge. Volume knob has a nice smooth even taper and the tone knob has a great variation. If you can't afford a top model PRS this is so close you won't beleive it. If you are looking to spend $500 dollars on a guitar don't look at anything else. I have owned them all and hands down this is the best !

Favorite Possesion

By wholden

from Flint, MI

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

This has been my favorite possession for over a year now. It's a serious instrument like a lot of others. But for the money no matter how hard it is to scratch up, it's worth the money as an instrument in the long run. I just up graded to a semi hollow body. I think that was a great decision all based upon this guitar.

This is truly a PRS guitar! Though it has little features (that I have seen anyway), it is AMAZING! I just bought it today and I am COMPLETELY satisfied with it! It gets a nice blues tone when I want it to, and crunches when I need it to. Rock ON! I love this guitar! -David

I bought this guitar used off Instrument Exchange. I tweaked the set-up a little to my liking and this guitar sings. It sounds great with the stock pickups. Great Harmonics.

Amazing

By rachitron

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is definately bang for the buck. My lead guitarist uses this PRS SE Custom and i keep on bugging him to trade my les paul custom for it. The sound is AMAZING, even on oem pickups. I do agree, however, that there could be more features, but the sound, construction, and appearance of this particular PRS makes it an awesome bang for the buck guitar. Even through a 15W spider line 6, this guitar sounds amazing.

What Les Paul?

By azsporty

from Tucson, AZ

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

Ever since I got this guitar, I've neglected my Les Paul. Got it on a Wednesday, played it Thursday, Friday and Sautuday nights at a Rally in Mexico and haven't put it down since! This guitar is stunning in both a visual and sonic sense. From the moment I took it out of the box and strummed it, I knew it was gonna sound awesome! AND, it looks stunning! Hope my Les Pual doesn't get butthurt but I'll be playing this one at gigs for a long time! As far as features , I found that I didn't miss the extra volume and tone pots and I'm getting used to the position of the toggle switch as well. Quality, except for a slight lacquer run on the bottom bout, it's flawless. Quality....none better for the money in my humble opinion. I'd rate it overall at 4.9 but it wasn't a selection.

Great Guitar

By bytor581

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

I have owned and played many great guitars and being in the business a while one thing you learn is you get what you pay for. This is one guitar that exceeded my expectations of quality. Right out of the box it was perfect, the only guitar I have never had to fix the intonation on. PRS impressed me. I am thinking about loading it with some EMG's though.

Affordable PRS sound and sustain

By Kirfa

from Palo Alto, CA

Comments about PRS SE Custom 22 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar almost a month ago, for Xmas. It is surprisingly light, but it matches very well the tone and sustain of heavier, much more expensive guitars. Although I did not have the money for a Les Paul Studio, I did try both while shopping and was very impressed ay how much of a match this guitar is for the LPS. The zebra pickups are really hot and work well with my favorite pedals, through a Marshall AVT50. Very quiet pickups compared to my other guitar, a 52 American Series Telecaster Reissue.
