Overview

The Paul Reed Smith Special 25th Anniversary Custom 24 SE electric guitar follows in the footsteps of the tried and true Custom 24. The guitar that Paul Smith took to his first tradeshow in 1985, the Custom 24 is the guitar that brought PRS to the party. The PRS Custom 24 SE has a 25" scale length coupled with a fast wide thin shape that gives this electric guitar exceptional playability. Pearloid bird inlays adorn the PRS guitar's 24-fret rosewood fingerboard and a carved flame maple top veneer highlights the classic PRS double-cutaway mahogany body. All hardware is nickel including a PRS tremolo bridge, and PRS designed tuners. The electric guitar comes with a PRS Cordura gig bag.

Called my local G.C. yesterday to inquire about buying a new American Strat, I asked about a couple of models and at the last minute asked about the PRS SE 25th Aniversary Custom 24. The sales rep called me back and said come on in. I went in and tried out a couple of Srats, I could definately see a difference between the American Strat and my Mexican Strat it felt beefier and more finished. After I tried out an American HSS Strat, I was just about decided on, I asked about the PRS He brought out a red mahogany finished one. I plugged it in and it felt real good. Pumped up the volume and it sounded better. The neck felt great, controls and switch felt like quality. I asked if there was a big difference between the American made PRS and this one. He pulled out a couple of more expensive PRS $1500-$1000 that were demos, not only did the Custom 24 look better, it sounded better and felt better, at least to me. I told him I'll take this one home. I had my 10% off coupon and for the price, I think I stole this guitar. I wanted the yellow natural finish, which he said he could order, but I didn't want to walk out of the store empty handed. I took a look over the guitar again in the light and I felt like I was warming up to this one real quick. I don't have a red mahogany guitar yet. I took it home and played for about four hours straight and it's the easiest guitar I ever played and it sounds great. I'm an intermediate player, but I try to practice ever day. As I was leaving the store in Boston, which is right next to Fenway Park, I couldn't help think that PRS hit this one OUT OF THE PARK Very nice guitar, and it's a PRS to boot !

Great Guitar!

By Bob

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Just purchased the anniversary custom 24 se and very happy I did. Everyone should give these guitars a try. Being a guy that would love an american made PRS, the price is just hard to handle when you are not rolling in the cash. That being said I have played many strats, epi Les Pauls (upper end) over the past few months and this guitar can hold it's own. Hard to believe it was made in Korea but I guess Paul did his homework before having his name put on them. I will probably have it professionaly set up shortly and maybe some hotter pickups in the future but I'll have to say out of the box I've got no complaints. I went with the vintage yellow (never would have got a yellow guitar before) and it looks like a piece of art. PRS calls this their student edition (SE) but I would have to say more of a budget minded musician's guitar. By no means a beginners guitar.

Great Guitar!

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

PRS SE's are the best guitars for the money out there! This one is bar far the best looking. The wide-thin neck profile is comfortable and the maple neck and top really make this guitar pop sonically. Pickups are OK. I've replaced them but that is just my preference. This one is just as good my American PRS's.

I love it !!!

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

About 3 weeks ago I decided to get another guitar so I traded my Ibanez Rg5 for a hard tail Ibanez.I was disapointed with that guitar right away, then I tried a PRS Single cutaway close but no cigar. Then I got the PRS Custom SE and this was the one.It just felt right in my hands and the pick ups are very good for stock.I will be taking my PRS in for a set up tomorrow and I will add locking tuners. You cant go wrong with PRS you just have to find the one that works for you.

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome. It's honestlky the most versatile guitar I've ever played. The only thing I want is locking tuners but otherwise its amazing...IF you use the tremelo alot i might recommend a floyd rose because it isn't very tune worthy is you're doing dives but otherwise it's great! i highly recommend adding this to your collection!!!

PRS SE Custom 24 (Red)

By Frank

from Richmond, VA

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with this guitar. Before I decided to purchase it, I went to GC on 3 different occasions to try out this guitar and was impressed with it each time. I was able to get really good Rock and Jazz tones. I love the feel of the neck and the response with the tremolo bar. Up until now, I was not a fan of PRS guitars but now that I have this one, it's one of my favorites and I think I will be playing this one more than the others.

se custom 24

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I just picked up this guitar in red on 7/2/2010. I must say for the price of this guitar it is worth 2 to 3 times that amount. Quality for a import is fantastic. I have many many other guitars and have been playing approx. 35 years. Yes, I'm old, but feel 25. The neck is great and the sound is very good. I would definitly recommend this to anyone looking for this type guitar.

A Blue Beauty

By martin saperstein

from huntington station, ny

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Looks & plays like a guitar twice the price. I got the striking Royal Blue. The wide thin neck, rosewood fretboard, 10" radius and 25" scale add up to easy playability. The prs humbuckers pour out full bodied tone. This guitar however is not for heavy metal. I have 2 other electrics and an acoustic electric. Right now I only want to play this guitar. Get one because this may be a limited edition.

Pretty slick axe.

By Kele

from San Francisco, CA

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I have always wanted a PRS; they are beautiful, sound amazing, and play like butter. When I saw that the 25th anniversary SE 24s had birds on the fretboard, I knew it was time to make the jump. I bought myself this little minx a few weeks ago, in yellow, and have been nothing but satisfied with it so far. I haven't taken it to a tech yet, but even with the store set-up the action is nice and low, and the intonation is pretty darn close. It drops tune in the trem a bit, but not any more that with similar trem systems. These have the characteristic PRS sonic malleability, but they also definitely have their own character - like a sweet spot between Fender and Gibson flagship models. I really couldn't be more satisfied; this is a whole lot of guitar for the money.
