Overview

The Paul Reed Smith Special 25th Anniversary Custom 24 SE electric guitar follows in the footsteps of the tried and true Custom 24. The guitar that Paul Smith took to his first tradeshow in 1985, the Custom 24 is the guitar that brought PRS to the party. The PRS Custom 24 SE has a 25" scale length coupled with a fast wide thin shape that gives this electric guitar exceptional playability. Pearloid bird inlays adorn the PRS guitar's 24-fret rosewood fingerboard and a carved flame maple top veneer highlights the classic PRS double-cutaway mahogany body. All hardware is nickel including a PRS tremolo bridge, and PRS designed tuners. The electric guitar comes with a PRS Cordura gig bag.

Called my local G.C. yesterday to inquire about buying a new American Strat, I asked about a couple of models and at the last minute asked about the PRS SE 25th Aniversary Custom 24. The sales rep called me back and said come on in. I went in and tried out a couple of Srats, I could definately see a difference between the American Strat and my Mexican Strat it felt beefier and more finished. After I tried out an American HSS Strat, I was just about decided on, I asked about the PRS He brought out a red mahogany finished one. I plugged it in and it felt real good. Pumped up the volume and it sounded better. The neck felt great, controls and switch felt like quality. I asked if there was a big difference between the American made PRS and this one. He pulled out a couple of more expensive PRS $1500-$1000 that were demos, not only did the Custom 24 look better, it sounded better and felt better, at least to me. I told him I'll take this one home. I had my 10% off coupon and for the price, I think I stole this guitar. I wanted the yellow natural finish, which he said he could order, but I didn't want to walk out of the store empty handed. I took a look over the guitar again in the light and I felt like I was warming up to this one real quick. I don't have a red mahogany guitar yet. I took it home and played for about four hours straight and it's the easiest guitar I ever played and it sounds great. I'm an intermediate player, but I try to practice ever day. As I was leaving the store in Boston, which is right next to Fenway Park, I couldn't help think that PRS hit this one OUT OF THE PARK Very nice guitar, and it's a PRS to boot !

For the price this can't be beat!

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I've been looking to get a PRS for a while but the price has always been out of my range. Then this little beauty showed up! This guitar has such a great feel, and the quilted maple top with the bird inlays set it off! The pickups sound great, and the sustain is phenomenal. You can dive bomb this thing and it still stays perfectly in tune! Worth way more than I paid for it!

PRS and my thoughts

By Dr. Richard W. Prosser

from Concord, NC

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I have owned a PRS for about 3 years now. I can say without a doubt it's the best guitar i have ever played. Presently I own a PRS Custom 24 with the birds on the frets. I play lead guitar for a rock Christian band at my church, and the sounds i get from my PRS is not comparable to anything else I have ever played. I strongly recommend to anyone looking for a new guitar Play the PSM American made guitar FIRST, then look at the others. You will come back to PRS every time, and if you dont come back you'll always wish you had.

Great Guitar!

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I have this guitar, bought it in February 2010 and I have nothing but compliments! It fits the body of a woman quite well, the body isn't as large as other guitars I have played in the past. You can play a variety of styles of music on this guitar. I primarily play rock and it has a great range from hard, low, rumbling chords to the perfect high notes for a solo. All in all, a wonderful guitar to play and to look at.

PRS SE Custom 24 25th in Vintage Yellow

By Karin

from Schaumburg, IL

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

My second guitar! :) Started learning guitar 7 months ago and wanted something better than the Epi SG Special. I've owned this guitar for about two months and it has made me very happy. I got the Vintage Yellow because of the contrast of the yellow top and red body, and the red head stock stands out. The guitar played well right out of the box. Way more sustain than the SG. Weight is good, and balance is excellent. Very comfortable to play. It just feels good in my hands. I don't use the tremelo. I tried many different guitars before selecting this for my step up guitar. It's a great value. If your looking to move up from a beginners guitar, definitely check this one out.

Pretty slick axe.

By Kele

from San Francisco, CA

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I have always wanted a PRS; they are beautiful, sound amazing, and play like butter. When I saw that the 25th anniversary SE 24s had birds on the fretboard, I knew it was time to make the jump. I bought myself this little minx a few weeks ago, in yellow, and have been nothing but satisfied with it so far. I haven't taken it to a tech yet, but even with the store set-up the action is nice and low, and the intonation is pretty darn close. It drops tune in the trem a bit, but not any more that with similar trem systems. These have the characteristic PRS sonic malleability, but they also definitely have their own character - like a sweet spot between Fender and Gibson flagship models. I really couldn't be more satisfied; this is a whole lot of guitar for the money.

Great guitar with minor changes

By rob

from Wantage,NJ

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I just bought mine less than a week ago.The Zebra humbuckers were ok but a set of GFS Fat PAF 59's( for the $$ gave this that Warm,Carlos Santana sound with alittle extra gain and sustain you won't believe.I added these same pickups in a coverless type fromGFS to my semi hollow body PRS SE model and that woke that guitar up too.The stock pickups are decent but custom picups give these PRS-SE guitars just the right oomf to compete with guitars twice their price.Locking tuners also should be added.

A Blue Beauty

By martin saperstein

from huntington station, ny

Comments about PRS SE 25th Anniversary Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Looks & plays like a guitar twice the price. I got the striking Royal Blue. The wide thin neck, rosewood fretboard, 10" radius and 25" scale add up to easy playability. The prs humbuckers pour out full bodied tone. This guitar however is not for heavy metal. I have 2 other electrics and an acoustic electric. Right now I only want to play this guitar. Get one because this may be a limited edition.
