Overview

The SE Standard 245 has a classic voice that is eminently recordable and gig-ready. The 24.5" scale length makes this instrument instantly comfortable to players who prefer short-scale guitars. Classic PRS appointments include a set Wide Fat mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with bird inlays, PRS-Designed stoptail bridge, tuners, and 245 humbuckers. The all-mahogany body is reminiscent of Paul's first pre-factory instruments and offers a warm, woody tone.

Since 2001, the SE Series has been offering incredible quality and great tone at affordable prices. The introduction of the SE Standard models represents a significant extension of the SE Series into the <$500 price point. The goal of the SE Series has always been to provide a quality instrument to players of all levels one that would not fight the player, but encourage him or her to start and to keep playing. PRS is proud to extend this promise to an even more attainable price point with the SE Standard lineup.

Comments about PRS SE 245 Standard Electric Guitar:

I have owned many guitars from cheap Squier to custom shop Gibsons. I have to say this is the worst I have ever owned. The nut looked like it was filled by a toddler with a hacksaw. It needs replaced. The bridge was loose on the post and leaned forward creating a sitar like sound and making it impossible to intonate. Horrible scratchy pots. Input jack was not tightened down. I always heard Paul took great pride in QC even on the SE models... Based on this guitar, that is untrue..

Comments about PRS SE 245 Standard Electric Guitar:

Mostly, I just play guitar for the enjoyment that I get out of it. I am very happy with the PRS SE 245 standard that I purchased. I feel that one of the great things about the PRS SE line is that you will get a lot of guitar for the money. I have felt the same way with the other SE's that I have owned. If your not looking to spend a ton of money for a top of the line instrument and want something mainly for learning on, playing in your home, or even performing, I feel the SE 245 would be a good choice. The 245 definitely feels similar to a Les Paul. It is a single cut guitar, however it may be somewhat lighter than some of the Gibsons. I do feel a difference in string tension from the scale length. The 245 strings are easy to bend, which may take a little getting used to. Overall, I am very satisfied with how the instrument sounds/feels and would recommend it to anyone looking for a single cut in the under $600 range.

Comments about PRS SE 245 Standard Electric Guitar:

Love it. Its heavy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Just know that it definitely has some mass to it. Looks great, quality is great and sounds great. I use a modelling amp most of the time for practice and this guitar sounds like a beast for metal and rock. Its a rock solid workhorse of a guitar and I personally like it just as much as any comparable Les Paul I've played. The neck is smooth and silky, the controls work and feel great and the overall feel and quality of the guitar are wonderful.

My only complaint would be the bevel on the edges of the body. The Tremonti has more of a beveled shape and I believe is a bit smaller and lighter. I only with the SE had a similarly aggressive bevel to make the body just a bit more comfortable.

Comments about PRS SE 245 Standard Electric Guitar:

I had to give this review because the one previous review seemed inaccurate. He is correct that out of the box, the intonation is off, but that can be adjusted by two small allen wrench screws in the back of the bridge. Perhaps that didn't work for him, but he didn't mention trying to fix the intonation.

I will agree that the pickups are voiced for hard rock and not very versatile. I personally wasn't a fan of them and opted to replace them with some Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers. After the change, I don't have a better sounding guitar.

Comments about PRS SE 245 Standard Electric Guitar:

Purchased the PRS SE 245 Standard online and it was delivered to my GC store in Raleigh in 2 days! The buying process was terrific and the guitar looked great on arrival. Unfortunately, the guitar's intonation was way off, particularly high on the fret board. I thought at first that the strings just needed stretching, but the intonation problems persisted. Also, I was not pleased with the guitar's clean tones. Both pickups sound best when driven. It really sustains beautifully when fully driven. This is definitely a rock guitar. Forget jazz. I ended up returning the guitar to my GC store for a full refund. No problem with the refund process.
