PRS SE 245

By scott

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

I have one of these in tobacco sunburst. It looks great, plays great, and sounds great. It is balanced well and the neck is just perfect. The scale (24 1/2) is a little strange to get used to, but once you do, it is very user friendly. The pick-ups are magnificent when processing a distorted signal. They seem to be very clear on every note. Lots of pick-ups tend to loose particular note clarity when distorted, but not these. The clean tones are very smooth and warm. The flame maple top looks unbelievable, and the birds are a nice touch. If you are in search of a single cut guitar, you can not do better in this price range. I think that this guitar is the reason gibson sued prs. Gibson is great stuff , but way over priced. Gibson is afraid of the 245, and for this level of price and quality, they should be.

The Legend Killer

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

We all know how Les Pauls are tone wise, how they look, feel and just the overwhelming support for them. I'm sorry, but this guitar is how they SHOULD have been made. The picks ups are both vintage sounding when you need it and perfect for modern high gain when needed to. The neck is thick but very comfortable and fast enough for shredding. In a sense it can do everything a Les Paul can do but better except for being a Gibson Les Paul. For those who want a high grade les paul but dont have the money, buy THIS guitar and drop Gibson Burstbuckers into it if you really want the tone but with better playability. I tested this guitar against all the Les Pauls GC had at the store and this PRS beat them all out, even convincing the guitar staff at GC.

The perfect solution

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

I've been playing on and off for about for 30 years. I was looking to replace a 1976 Les Paul Custom in Tobacco Suburst that was regrettably sold years ago. I started reading on the web and playing many different brands and styles at GC near home. I bought this PSR SE 245 in Tobacco Sunburst about three months ago and all I can say is "Wow!" The fit and finish are the same as what I observed on the Gibson Les Pauls I was looking to buy at three times the price of the PRS. The real factors are sound and play-ability. Both are incredible for the price. I walked into GC just to play the Gibson again and the first SE had just come in. They strung it up, I played it and bought it. That simple. I've been playing it as much as possible ever since. The real message here is value. I could have paid the 4K for a nice custom but I didn't have to, I've gotten the enjoyment out it. Bird inlays, tiger striped body, It's really is a beautiful guitar. Hope this helps.

Q: What does SE stand for? A: Superb Electric.

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

PRS may call them "Student Editions" but this guitar is far better than my first guitar. I took a chance and ordered this guitar sight unseen. This is an outstanding value in the electric guitar market. I have owned several high end guitars. This guitar is really nice, both aesthetically and functionally. It was set up very well right out of the box. I am a "Les Paul" player but I own several other guitars. It may not be as fat sounding as a LP but it has a nice tonal balance, good articulation on distorted chords and good harmonics. I felt comfortable with this instrument immediately. Granted, the 9 gauge strings helped. Normally I use 10ۡs, but for the time being I am leaving 9ۡs on it because I really like the way it sounds. The headstock was damaged, maybe at the factory because the shipping box did not have any signs of damage. I kept the guitar because it played great and sounded excellent. I didnۡt want to chance getting one that didnۡt perform as well. I am glad that I took a chance on this guitar.

Great Guitar!

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

I'm a huge Opeth fan, and thanks to them I learned of PRS guitars. They grab your attention visually very easily, and thanks to that I started looking into them when I was ready to move on from my Stratocaster. This is an amazing guitar! The playability is amazing, the tone is amazing, and coming from an acoustic guitar background, the neck profile was a good fit. I'm just past the "honeymoon" phase with it and I still love to play it every day. I doubt you'll find a guitar of this quality for the money. Buy one!!

Highest quality

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

I played a very expensive PRS at my Guitar Center a few months ago and have been happily thinking about it ever since. I decided to check out an SE recently because I needed to economize. WOW. I am very impressed with my new 245! The quality is absolutely amazing right down to the tuners. From a design angle, I love the bridge because it provides a stable rest for the heal of my hand while soloing. This guitar sounds great, stays in tune and looks fantastic.

Amazing Guitar

By Cameron Hocker

from New Mexico

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar to give me a more well rounded arrange of sounds for when I play for my church's praise team and it is absolutely perfect. It can handle metal, rock, country, jazz, blues, or anything else you can throw at it. The neck is superb and allows you to play up and down the frets very quickly. Sustain is killer. I've never heard a guitar hold notes for as long as this one does, especially for the same price. I also love the look of this guitar. I got the Tobacco Sunburst finish and it is beautiful. I also really enjoy the bird inlays on the fret board. If you have only ever had a starter guitar and are looking to move up in quality, this is the guitar for you.

It'll go where you take it

By Jim Cox

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

First off, I'm not a killer guitar player - by a long shot, but I've been playing off and on for years starting when I was 10. I'm 52 now. I do have quite a collection of guitars at this point including PRS Swampash, Several Ibanez, SG standard, Les Paul standard, Seagull A/E, etc . . . The SE 245 is different from all of them, but honestly about as nice as any of them for my ability which I would label as intermediate. I'm sure seriously accomplished players will see shortcomings most people never will. The shorter scale is always something I have to get used to,but after 10 minutes of "acclimation", it's off to the races. I REALLY like the tone and the WF neck (on some applications) and the look is off the charts nice. I'd definitely recommend this SE to anyone looking for a guitar that is likely up to anything most people can dish out.

Fantastic Guitar

By Brian Coonan

from Bay City, MI

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

I ordered the SE 245 in orange as a blemished guitar. Got a GREAT deal on it, but also have yet to find an actual blemish on it. This is probably the 2nd or 3rd time that I've ordered blemished equipment from GC and have never seen an actual issue. As for the guitar - would have been nice if it came with a case but for the price, and the fact that I got a PRS bag from my buddy for $10 (actually for $10 worth of beer!), it didn't bum me out too bad. Guitar arrived quickly, and packed well with no signs of damage. I think it was shipped with .09s on it - I use 10's and we're tuned down 1/2 step so when I changed the strings, I did have to do a little intonation adjustment which was SUPER easy, and quick. Played a whole night with the guitar a couple days after it arrived and it's amazing. I'd buy like 10 of these if I could. Stayed in tune all night, sounded as good as my Explorer and just rocked to play. Not to mention looking great too. I play through a Marshall JVM, and this guitar handles all the different tones pretty well. I did notice that when I was on 'clean' and my volume was down a little, it was kind of bass-y for me, but that's just something I will compensate for with EQ. All in all - these guitars are sweet - this is the 2nd one I've had (first was a Santana green one) and both were rock solid.

Step up

By Ernest Simmons

from Siletz Or

Comments about PRS SE 245 Electric Guitar:

I have owned guitar for 3 months and am fully satisfied with it. Replaces a Epi Les Paul Studio and is a better instrument in all ways. It is more attractive, better finished and sounds much clearer and far more articulate. The LP was my main guitar for 8 years but I gradually wanted a less muddy sounding guitar. Treble notes do not sink in the mud but contribute to a fuller more satisfying sound. I recommend this quitar if u want a better instrument without the added cost of a Gibson. Highly recommended.
