'Mark Tremonti is one of rock's leading guitarists. As the guitarist of Alter Bridge and Creed, he has met extraordinary success and continues to grow as both a guitar player and songwriter. While Creed was on tour in support of their first record, My Own Prison, Mark was contacted by PRS and asked if he would like to try one of their guitars.
"I jumped at the idea to play one of PRS guitars. PRS was one of those guitars that I could never afford in high school or college and had always wanted to play one." PRS sent Mark a McCarty model which he instantly fell in love with. He played that guitar exclusively for a while, but ultimately wanted a guitar that was more suited to his playing style.
Mark Tremonti began to collaborate with PRS on his dream guitar that would soon become the Mark Tremonti Signature Model. He needed pickups that were a little more aggressive and could complement his rhythm playing which contains a lot of palm muting. The result: PRS-designed Tremonti humbuckers. The neck of the guitar needed to accommodate his style, influenced by thrash metal, shred, and traditional blues. PRS met these needs with the Pattern Thin neck carve.
Pattern Thin Neck Shape
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of their quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. The "Pattern Thin" neck is an updated version of PRS's traditional Wide Thin neck. This new neck shape reflects modern tooling and programming that allows PRS to even more preciously shape and consistently reproduce their necks.

I've had various Les Pauls and Custom 24s. I switched from Gibson to PRS a few years ago, but decided I wanted a Custom Les Paul Black Beauty. However, I picked up a PRS Tremonti, and it was all over. I usually stay away from signature guitars, but it blew away all the Les Paul Customs I had tried out. It has the low end of the LPC fully covered. But then take that and add the famous PRS mid-range bite and crystal clear highs and you've got one of the most versatile guitars out there. Okay, so you've got the idea on sound. But what takes this guitar to the next level over a Les Paul Custom is playability. It's the easiest guitar to play that I've ever picked up and stays in tune for days. It covers just about all musical styles as well. I slapped a Tremol-no on it, and never looked back. I also have a PRS Custom 24 w/a solid rosewood neck and matching maple flamed capped headstock. And while I love that guitar, my go to guitar is the Tremonti. That should tell you something about the Tremonti. Lastly, on any guitar you're interested in, do the eBAY test. Run a search on used Les Paul Customs on eBAY. There are dozens for sell for half of what a new one costs. Run a search on PRS Tremonti's. "If you're lucky", you might fine "one" used one for sale at any point in time, and they're only a little less than a new one. People, including myself, just don't sell these guitars. They're that good my friend.
I have been dying to get a real top of the line guitar for a long time. I tried out so many at Guitar Center, but nothing was right. I always had an interest in PRS, but I wanted the look of a Les Paul. I'm not a big fan of buying signature instruments, but the fact that I could get it in a color different from what Tremonti actually has convinced me to buy it. I went with the Smoked Cherry Burst and had it delivered to the store. When we opened it up, we all just stared at it for a minute because the color was absolutley incredible. I played it and knew immediately that this was exactly what I was looking for. It can scream, and it even sounds good playing a little jazz. The quality of PRS in general is second to none, but this guitar just blew me away. I suppose it also helps that I'm a pretty big fan of Mark Tremonti.
I've waited 7 years to get my dream guitar. I've owned it for 2 weeks now and it is amazing. I've played country, rock, metal...you name it and this guitar excels in each genre. The raw power of all the electronics in this axe are top of the line. I simply plugged it in and it just sings. No need for any modification!!! This guitar is going to be used in the studio on the new Shotgun Harbour album so check us out on iTunes!!! I will also be playing this beauty live. If you're in the market and have the extra cash(or the credit) I highly recommend this guitar for any genre.
