The PRS DGT (David Grissom Trem) Standard with Birds Electric Guitar enters new sonic territory with a body made solely of mahogany. This limited-run guitar comes in an assortment of colors and retains the same great body shape, neck carve and hardware as before. Here's what David has to say:
"The DGT Standard has been in the works for the last year, and I'm really excited PRS is doing a run of these guitars in a bunch of cool colors. My first PRS was an 85 all-mahogany Seafoam Green Standard, so this guitar brings everything full circle for me. After playing my DGTs almost exclusively for the last 5 years, I wanted something that had all the features we worked so hard on with the original DGT, but with the sonic character of an all-mahogany guitar. The all-mahogany guitars are more focused in the mids as a general rule, and have a nice chime and growl as well. Paul and I both agreed that doing an all-mahogany version was the ideal way to get a great variation on the basic DGT without sacrificing any of the soul and features of the original. I got the first prototype at NAMM this year, and I have to say that PRS hit it out of the park once again!" David Grissom
Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood' inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars™ new œV12 finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, œV12 is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. œPRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments, said Paul Reed Smith.

Comments about PRS DGT Standard with Birds Electric Guitar:
I am happy to say that I now own this beautiful guitar. I have been playing a PRS Custom 24 for about 3 years now. I have always been a fan of the guitars and finally saved up to get a used Custom 24 when I finished up college. I walked into guitar center to get my 24 tuned up a few weeks ago and instantly saw the powder blue DGT on the top rack. It was love at first sight. I always dreamed of getting a PRS in that color (Tim Mahoney Fan). I plugged it in at the store and knew I had to have it so I traded in the 24. I am running the DGT through a Mesa Dual Rectifier. I play in a punk/rock/alternative band but my tone is along the lines of Coldplay,Incubus and Tool. I play all the leads in my band so frequently switch between high gain and clean channels. This guitar sounds AMAZING through a high gain channel. The humbuckers give it a really "full" sound. Obviously this guitar sounds amazing on a clean channel as well. I use a lot of delay and phaser (Incubus sound) and this guitar just sounds incredibly ambient and dreamy. The coil tap is an awesome feature. Pull up on the tone nob to get that classic strat sound. I know a lot of people hate and say it doesn't sound like a strat...but it does...and it sounds awesome. The 3 channel toggle switch is way more convenient than the channel nob on the 24 as well. The guitar is all mahogany so it is heavier than I am used to. I also was using a wide-thin neck on my 24 and this neck is a little bit bigger but I quickly got used to it. Long story short...I will never have to buy another guitar again. It sounds so incredible and can be used in any style of music in my opinion. The fact that this guitar is a limited run makes it that much more special. The color options are gorgeous when you see them in person. When I'm not playing it, I will walk by the case and open it and just stare at it for a few minutes. If you have been waiting to buy a PRS then now is the time.
