Comments about PRS Custom 24 "Floyd" Electric Guitar:
I concede that maybe this isn't the PRS fan's PRS. Most long term PRS enthusiasts look askance at Floyd Roses. But if you are like me, this is worth checking out.
I've been searching for a PRS that I wouldn't mind spending the money on. I've been looking since 1991. I've been close a few times but this one pushed me over the edge. On previous models I always got hung up on the vintage-style tremolo. How on earth could I pay thousands of dollars for something that, while well done, seemed technologically backward to me?
All I wanted in a PRS seemed simple: 24 frets, Floyd Rose, bird inlays, and an Ebony fretboard. Finally, all of these things are available!
But more than finally getting the features that I wanted in one PRS, this thing is so good (and of such quality) that it is making me rethink my relationship with my other guitars. Do I really need all of my US handmade vintage Hamers anymore? This thing has a locking nut where the bolts don't go through the neck. How are they doing that?
You can get great clean sounds to very convincing metal and many good sounds in between. I can't think of anything that this guitar can't do well. If you've always wanted a PRS but were hung up on the tremolo, this is your chance. Buy one before they disappear.
