Comments about PRS Custom 24 Carved Flame Maple Top with Nickel Hardware Electric Guitar:
After being a faithful Les Paul guy for 40 years, and having flirted with a number of strats, I am happy to experience the best of both worlds. The fit and finish is really over the top, just beautiful in every way. I have the violet version, with natural mahogany back and neck, and it is just stunning. The tone and playability are the heart of the matter, though, and both are incredible. Tuning and intonation are very stable, and it returns to tune perfectly after all kinds of exploration of the trem bar. The five positions of the pickup wiring are all unique, useable, and really expressive; very well balanced in terms of volume as you switch across the spectrum. The instrument's overall tone is warm yet clear, very unique; I run it from clean and pure to madly overdriven, and the guitar is always articulate and responsive to touch. It speaks like an acoustic guitar. As well, it just feels more natural than any other electric guitar I've ever played; the carved top isn't just lovely, it sets the strings up just enough to make them fit the human arm exactly. The volume knob is close enough to caress, but not too close, and the fact that it's inset keeps it from getting bumped too much unintentionally. It's an expensive piece of gear, but you can't help but feel that you have gotten more than your money's worth when you live with it. Aesthetically and practically the best electric guitar I've ever experienced...beware, you'll get thoroughly addicted.
