I have been playing for 40 years . I have a vast collection of guitars . This guitar is a very nice instrument . It sounds great clean and fairly good distorted . Of course the finish is first class ...but , to me the neck is uncomfortable. Too stubby and fat . It certainly does not sound as good as a Les Paul Standard . And the price speaks for itself . The guitar is lightweight which is nice for stage but I find it awkward sit a play . For a $1000 less I would be happy with it . Its a nice collectors piece and should be worth $$$ in the future ...bottom line , if you have limited funds and want to buy a high end guitar get a Gibson, Rickenbacker or a custom shop Fender first.
First off let me start by saying that I own an American Series Delux Strat, which has been my workhorse guitar for quite some time now. I decided that it wasn't, as our lead guitarist put it, "fancy enough" and so I saved for a while and bought one of these puppies. Needless to say, they're expensive, but if you want "perfection", there is simply no other choice. The Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 is the perfect guitar; you can't put it any other way. No matter what you play, this guitar can get the tone. My Strat and our Lead's LP Custom are mono-purpose guitars in the end; I can get really good "funky" and "classic rock" tones our of my Strat, and our Lead's LP can get really good "crunch" and "bite", but if you want something that does everything and does it well, you need a PRS. The music I play is so diverse that I need a guitar like this, and if you play all sorts of stuff, you're going to love this guitar. I've only had mine for a month, but I've probably clocked more hours on this than most of my other guitars combined, just because I love it so much.
Simply the best. I have Gibsons, US Fenders, a Ric. I have two PRS, a custom 22 quilted artist 10 top and a Hollowbody II. I always heard you can get a good or bad Fender or Gibson and I've seen some new ones with defects. PRS guitars are bullet proof. My custom 22 has the Mateo blue quilt top, so it looks like a shallow pool. I likely won't gig with this, because I'd worry about someone procuring a five fingered discount at my expense, but I certainly use it in the studio. Paul Reed Smith cuts guitars in half that other manufacturers ship. If you are looking for something of beauty and quality, that can also just flat out wail, pickup a PRS.
I have owned a many, many guitars in my day and without a doubt PRS makes one of the best products ever produced.. I have 3 Custom 22's, Ten tops and Quilt tops.. These are more than just guiatrs, they are art work. The craftsmanship is just incredable.. The natual binding is gorgeous and you won't find any wood filler anywere in the body.. Beside appearance these things play incredable.. I've played in many cover bands with three one hour sets and used the same guitar all night and never had to tune because the tunners just don't move. No need for locking nuts and fine tunners... You could bend the strings all night and never half to worry about it going out of tune.. Playability is great, It just fits right and feels right... It is a solid guitar, you better have a good back because they arn't light but that also gives the guitar it sound and tone.. It doesn't mater if your playing Jazz,Blues or Thrash Metal, these guitars will play anything you throw at them.. Nothing I have bought yet even rivals the PRS...
