The PRS 513 electric guitar in mahogany is an updated version of the original PRS 513 rosewood model. The guitar features a mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, updated electronics, and includes a patented pickup system providing 13 modern and vintage sounds using five proprietary single coil pickups.
Other specifications include a 25-1/4" scale; a special neck joint; 513 bird inlays; and an easy to use integrated electronics control package, which includes volume control, tone control, and two blade switches. One blade switch is a five-way pickup selector and the other is a three-way mode switch that allows you to select between the single coil, clear humbucking and heavy humbucking modes. This is one of PRS' most versatile instruments that can go from screaming humbuckers to sparkling single coils with the flick of the switch.

I ordered the prs 513 six days before christmas and sure enough it was not only delivered on time, but the guitar was packaged with extreme care. My prs 513 did not have a single scratch or any finger prints on it. Now the part you all want to read about. How does it look, feel, and sound? The prs 513 photos you guys see online does not justify the beauty of the guitar. I was in awe and lost of words when I opened the case. The sounds produced are simply amazing, you can feel the warm generate from it. I do not have the time to explain in full details of all the sound this guitar is capable of, but believe me when I tell you it have no equal. The fret board is perfect for my hand and I love the birds! The only thing that i dislike about the guitar is the tremelo. The reason is , the tremelo stick is too stiff. i want something that I can just let go and it will fall down to six o'clock position. This tremelo just hold it position when you move it. over all prs 513 is a must own guitar just like every guitarist must have a Fender American Strat.
When I bought a vintage fender strat i thought that that was it. THere could be nothing better. I was wrong. I picked up this guitar, being very skeptical about it, after all, who could replace a classic strat?? These 5 pickups really do give you huge versatility, and quite frankly sounds better than a vintage strat. The sounds you can dial in are so quacky that it literally blows a strat out of the water. Setting the pickups to a full output humbucker can really give you that '57 classic humbucker sound, but keep that modern PRS vibe. This guitar may cost more than a american standard strat, but it is 67.3 times better than one. Believe me, play one, and you will LOVE it!!!!
I have been playing many of what I called tailored guitars. I have a Wolfgang which I loved and never thought would ever have to replace. I was curious about PRS guitars. I never played them based on price and cosmetics. I tried other PRS's and concluded it wasn't for me. Recently, I was at Guitar Center and was drawn to the 513. I always searched for shorter fret boards, unmatched tone, balance and sleekness. This guitar contained all elements. I love it. The balance is light, the fretboard is amazing (especially if you have small hands), the tone variations combine are endless. The 13 positions have emulated every guitar I have ever owned or have played. Yes the price may be up there but think of owning 13 guitars in one. I literally went from a Strat sound to a Les Paul to a Wolfgang in a flip of a switch. The grain feels like an antique. This neck is tapered. Try this guitar one time and you will be amazed!!!
