With all the hype surrounding this guitar, I was reluctant to buy one. I haven't seen 2 many turn up used for sale, now I know why. I bought a violin amber sunburst 10 top, and the beauty of the guitar just won't let you put it down. Then you add the fact that the guitar can go from screamin, to dreamin with just the flick of a switch, man what a fantastic piece. PRS sustain surpasses all other guitars. With a Gibson, you get some that aren't as good as others, depending on pickups and weight. With PRS, it doesn't matter. The 513 is a very beautiful sounding, looking, and feeling that cannot be compared to any other guitar. Not even another PRS. The changes in tone are amazing. The feel of the neck is great. The frets are wide and tall. Bluesy, ballsy, and beautiful all in 1 terrific package. PRS recently discontinued the 513 solid body. Get 1 now, or be very upset when they start selling for 2x what they cost now. But believe me, you won't want to EVER sell it.
I have to admit I am a guitar snob. I own more than 20. I have many classic guitars, and used to take them to gigs. But I had a 62 strat stolen. Went to my local GC to purchase a Les Paul and a Strat, but, my trusty sales guy here in Dallas turned me on to a violin amber sunburst 10 top and I was blown away! Does is sound like a vintage strat? Well somewhat, Does it sound like a vintage LP, kind of, but, for me, playing classic rock and blues this guitar allows me to play one guitar all night! And for an old guy that is greatness! This guitar sounds wonderful in all positions, I can get tones out of this thing that are heaven! I can play ZZ Top, SRV, Elvis, Skynard, Disco, Heavy Metal, all with one axe! And it looks awesome, I get a lot of comments on how good my tone is! You may say it coats too much for the average guy, but, you would have to buy 3 guitars to tet the same coverage, Thanks PRS for putting out such a great axe!
