The last guitar I'll ever buy

By Aaron Sandefur

from dalton georgia

My 25th anniversary prs 513 just came in the mail and when I opened the box the first thing I noticed was the 25th anniversary case. Unlike the plain black case the 25th features a light tan colored case with Paul Reed Smith's photo copied signature on the case with 25th prs guitars and an eagle on the top left corner of the case. I got the charcoal burst which is the color shown and it is beautiful. The finish is flawless. I plugged it into my laney 15 watt tube amp and was blown away. The sustain from this guitar is unmatched by an guitar I've ever played. The wide thin neck was very easy for my hands to maneuvar across. The different sounds that I am able to get out of this guitar are just a bonus. With the flip of a 3-way I am able to go from single coils to humbuckers. I play mostly blues licks but was able to play some rock and even heavy metal with this guitar. There was no buzz on any fret and every single note sounds crystal clear. The tone knob actually changed the tone alot. I havn't had an issue with bumping the volume knob while playing the guitar. This guitar doesn't go out of tune either. The only thing that I found that I would've liked to have changed is the tone and volume knobs aren't very stiff. I would prefer they be a little stiffer like a telecaster but thats my only complaint. I will probably never buy another guitar in my life but if I do it will be a Paul Reed Smith.

Tons of possibilities, and nicely playable

By Steve

from South Bend, IN

I've always been a fan of PRS guitars because I've never seen another maker match the consistency of quality in their guitars. Getting used to the number of options is a bit much, at first, but the amount of possibilities is very rewarding, provided you get used to it. An unexpected thing which sticks out about this guitar in particular is the neck. I know that the neck on some PRS's are tough to get your hands around, and they get trashed for being "baseball bats" from time to time, but the wide thin neck profile is much easier to handle, which makes this guitar much more approachable for people who are turned off by the more-common "wide fat" neck that PRS has.
