  I picked one of these up at my local GC about 8 months ago and have been loving it ever since. The playability is second to none, the neck profile is thin yet substantial, the action can be set quite low with no dead spots, and the fretboard is silky smooth. The tone is great, and makes it sound right at home in almost any style of music. The maple neck gives it a snappy tone with tight bass, and the 24 fret neck pushes the neck pickup just a little closer to the bridge, which gives the neck pickup a little more definition. Drive sounds with this thing are killer, harmonics are a breeze and it has a nice punchy, full sound. The pickups themselves breathe tone, and are fairly hot, but clean up very nicely, running both pickups sounds very similar to the "in-between" sound of a strat, despite having humbuckers. I was actually quite surprised at how great the clean tones were on this. The only tone I have a hard time getting is a warm neck pickup blues tone, again due to the placement of the neck pickup. The setup was nearly perfect, just required some string height adjustment that was more of a personal preference thing. Other than that, no sharp fret ends, nut was good, trem was good, inlays are done perfectly, knobs and switch are rock solid, and the pots have a great taper and are very useable. This is my 2nd SE and I'll keep going for these over cheaper "budget" guitars because I know PRS stands behind the SE line and makes no compromises in quality. Unfortunately, the SE line doesn't feature coil tap and some of the other high end bells and whistles, but it's still perfectly useable, and feels and sounds great. Definitely check one out!

  I have owned over 100 guitars (including a USA made PRS Custom 24) and I think this is definitely one of the nicest guitars available in this price range. It plays great, was set up well right out of the box, and the finish is beautiful. The stock pickups are pretty good, but I might upgrade to some Seymour Duncans later.

  Simply put, you cannot find a better guitar in this price range. Materials, electronics, build quality, cosmetics all are top notch. PRS Guitars are obviously very protective of their reputation and they didn't allow that reputation be hurt by a cheap knock off with their name on it.
