Bold. Elegant. Classic.

Updated with a new "Pattern" neck shape, "V12" finish, and 53/10 pickups, the ME Quatro builds on the Modern Eagle tradition of using premium tonewoods, including a select dalbergia neck and fretboard and artist-grade top, to create a bold yet elegant instrument.

The ME Quatro incorporates the following new features:

V12 Finish
Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood's inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars' new "V12" finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, "V12" is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. "PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments," said Paul Reed Smith.

Pattern Neck Shape
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of their quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. Perfected after years of prototyping, the new "Pattern" neck is an updated Wide-Fat PRS neck style based on Paul's pre-factory design. These necks were found on the instruments built for Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton, and Howard Leese from the late '70s to the mid '80s.

Whether in woodworking, machining, or cast and die work, patternmaking is the art of arriving at a perfect standard that can be duplicated or used to create new designs by "offsetting." All PRS necks are a result of offsetting from this original, Wide-Fat design.

53/10 Pickups
The 53/10 pickup is the latest in the series of humbucking pickups that already include PRS 57/08 and 59/09s (and the smaller aperture 57/08 Narrowfield). First debuting as part of a limited run in the summer of 2010, the distinct 53/10 is the warmest-sounding of the vintage-themed bunch. The 53/10 coil wire is made on the same machine that supplied legendary guitar makers in the '50s. Wire specifications for the 53/10 are slightly different than the others and are made using a special process reserved for a single-coil bridge pickup circa 1953; however, the 53/10 is a humbucking pickup. Smith commented, "There are single-coil guitars from that era that are beautifully big, fat-sounding guitars." With that tone as inspiration, 53/10 pickups are similar to the original 57/08 but with a "sweeter" high end.

  • Beauty, craftsmanship, and tone!

I will start by saying it is the most comfortable guitar, out of the box, I own. The versatility is not to be believed. Coil tapping gives many choices that should be able to please any ear or style. I agree with PRS, the neck feels like an old friend. Came with a set of 10's and switched to 9's like my others, and still had sustain while playing chords. I got the faded blue burst and everyone that has seen it, is amazed. The artist top really is stunning. The only negative?the case is kinda ugly. This has instantly turned into my new favorite, and I do have some nice pieces?.Ibanez Jem777, Les Paul Studio, 40th Anniversary Strat, '62 Reissue Telecaster, ect. It might be a tough price to get over, but, when it's in your hand all will be forgotten.

  • Uno, Dos, Tres...QUATRO!

As reviewed by Enzo Cinquecento on 5/11/2011

I just picked up a PRS Quatro in Sunset Burst and have only plugged in and played it a couple of times. Having previously owned an PRS SE, I finally got the real deal. The guitar fits like a glove, the action and neck feel is perfect for my style of playing. The Quatro came from the factory set up perfectly. I had nothing to tweek except my own practice habits. The 53/10 pick up have the perfect balance of heat, punch and warmth that you'd expect from any great "PAF" humbucker. The guitar rings like a bell and looks like a Stadivarius!

  • Found what I was looking for........

As reviewed by Brett G. on 3/7/2011

In the past I have purchased many custom shop guitars by the top brands.I've found that none of them could compare to prs in terms of quality, looks, feel, & sound! I recently purchased this modern eagle quatro without ever playing one (they were not in any of the stores yet) and had to be ordered. The ME quatro is like no other guitar that I've played before. The neck is made of solid select rosewood, and the size & shape is perfect!!!!!!!! artist grade top.....stunning!!!! sound of this guitar-MIND BLOWING!!!! Thanks PRS & Guitar Center Clackamas,Or.
