PRS and David Grissom collaborate on an all-mahogany, signature model.
The PRS DGT (David Grissom Trem) Standard with Moons Electric Guitar enters new sonic territory with a body made solely of mahogany. This limited-run guitar comes in an assortment of colors and retains the same great body shape, neck carve and hardware as before. Here's what David has to say:
"The DGT Standard has been in the works for the last year, and I'm really excited PRS is doing a run of these guitars in a bunch of cool colors. My first PRS was an 85 all-mahogany Seafoam Green Standard, so this guitar brings everything full circle for me. After playing my DGTs almost exclusively for the last 5 years, I wanted something that had all the features we worked so hard on with the original DGT, but with the sonic character of an all-mahogany guitar. The all-mahogany guitars are more focused in the mids as a general rule, and have a nice chime and growl as well. Paul and I both agreed that doing an all-mahogany version was the ideal way to get a great variation on the basic DGT without sacrificing any of the soul and features of the original. I got the first prototype at NAMM this year, and I have to say that PRS hit it out of the park once again!" David Grissom

And PRS Guitars’ new “V12” finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, “V12” is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. “PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments,” said Paul Reed Smith.
Phase III Locking Tuners
PRS Guitars Phase III tuners are new to the line up for 2011 and will come standard on SC 58, McCarty 58, ME Quatro, and JA-15 models. These very smooth, high-tolerance pegs feature an elegant design with larger buttons, an open back, and closed housing.
