These drums sticks are hard to adjust to if you never have used them. They dont have the same feel as a drum stick would when you hit your ride cymbal. It takes some getting use to when changing from something completely different. These are a nice addition to a stick bag with the similarity of brushes. For a nice soothing backbeat is when these can be used and they also can put out some sound too!

I bought a pair of Hot Rods to use at my church where I don't want to play as loud. They allow me to play softer while using normal strokes and I can still build to a reasonably loud sound when desired with bigger strokes. The only drawback is that they chip on cymbals fair easily, which reduces their lifespan. I would recommend them to anyone looking for more dynamic control.

Best Dowel Rods...EVER. Period to the end

By Taylor

from Moody, AL

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

These are a neat pair of alternative sound sources for drummers. They are good for many cases: For one, you can use them in church for low volume (if you're playing in a small building). But, they are also useful for acoustic songs which require a soft sound, or simply for quiet practice. These are just a few options you could use these useful rods for. Plus, they have the quality of all the great makers at Pro-mark make them with. I think these are the best rods ever. Period to the end.

Great Styx!

By William Phillips

from Seattle Washington

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

These are the perfect volume control without having to buy electric drums. In any venue where regular sticks are too loud, these are the great compromise! Had them for about a year now and couldn't live without them.

These rods get the job done!

By Nate

from Seattle, WA

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

I have been playing in home setting for a long time. I wanted a type of stick that would keep my noise level down. When I found out about the Pro-Mark Hot Rods I got them. They are very good sticks. They were able to keep my noise level down. They also last very long. I have had mine for a little over five months now and they are still in very good condition. I think that it is very important not to play too hard with them and it is important to control your force. But these are a great pair of sticks and I would recommend them to all drummers.

Great for lower sound

By CB20

from chicago

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

I buy these sticks because they are really great for my church and not overwhelm other musical instruments. Their life span isnt so great..maybe about 5-6 months depending and how much and how hard you play. The tips become dull and spreads and sometimes breaks off leaving you with less "sticks" to play with..I recommend these for lighter playing for sure especially for your neighbors sake.(hehe) I also recommend the same type except with only for thicker sticks that is also for a less loud-but longer lasting sticks. Im going to try putting tape on the tips to make it last longer! they should make a plastic version of this..lol w/e

Great Sticks!

By Dan Koshulsky

from Pottsville, PA

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

I won a pair of these at Guitar Center's Drum Off with many other awesome prizes last year. My neighbors threatened the cops with me playing all the time so I started using them. I'm able to play quietly enough that the neighbors don't complain but I still have the dynamic control my style calls for. These sticks have a crisper sound on my cymbals too so it makes it easier to experiment with different styles. The downside is the dowels break relatively quick on the edge of cymbals and rimshots. Also you don't get much action on drumheads and they sound dead (which is why I rimshot to get the sound out). Other than that, great sticks!!! I'm going to buy another pair tomorrow!!!

They are Really Cool!!!

By Gerry

from Waxhaw, NC

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

Softer sound than Sticks. Not for a metal band!!!! I used them live for the first time and they sounded great. I was told it was the best song of the night. My best purchase in years!!! I have been practicing with these instead of sticks and my Family loves it, easier on the ears. I actually can hear what I'm playing much better. Try it, you'll like it!

The only sticks that actually last. I have used other versions from different makers and these always stand up above them all.

If you are looking for bundles, get these. I recently experimented with some other cheaper brands and models and none have the durability of hot rods.

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

We use these Hot Rod sticks weekly and they really help with some overall volume control. When the drum volume comes down, so can everything else! The drummers we have may not appreciate them as much as the rest of us, but if you need to bring down the overall volume for everything when performing, these sticks will be a good place to start. Just be prepared to replace them more often than regular sticks.

      Great Quiet Stick

      By Peter

      from California

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

The ProMark Hot Rods are great for playing quieter in comparison to playing with sticks, but louder and with more power than playing with brushes. They are a great choice for practice or when you need to keep the noise down. Personally, I've used them at my church for a morning service. There are apartments and houses nearby and we didn't get any complaints. I guess they either do help keep the noise down or our neighbors are heavy sleepers. My friends have some of these and some of the dowels are in pretty bad shape, but damage happens to all drum sticks and I guess to Hot Rods as well. These are some great alternatives to sticks when you want quiter sound or perhaps a slighty different one. They are a bit pricey, but try them out and see if you like them.

      Get 2 pairs! Now!

      By Anniearchy

      from Park Ridge IL

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

Hot Rods take some getting used to for the drummer accustomed to using only sticks, but they are a fabulous middle ground between the volume of sticks versus brushes. Initially, you might find that your speed is compromised slightly, but with practice, the Hot Rods won't seem as cumbersome. Purchase 2 pairs at a time, as the tips tend to wear out and split off rather quickly with repeated use.

      must have product

      By jerp08

      from Lawton, MI

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

I have used many different kinds of rutes and these are the best. The adjustment stays put no matter how hard you play unlike other brands that need constant adjustment while playing. I recommend to any drummer that needs to bring the volume level down in certain venues.

      Great Sticks for the cash

      By Cash

      from New York City

Comments about PROMARK Hot Rod Sticks:

I think these sticks are great for practice or when playing quitly at a gig or solo session. I have heard they break easily but mine are holding up very well. However, similar Zildjian sticks like these may cost a little more money, but it is worth it, the sound is much more adjustable and they are know to last much longer. In any case, I dont think anything beats regular sticks or brushes at a gig.
