I've always been a Vic Firth guy, but I decided to try a set of Pro Mark 5B American Hickory. They lasted for over a year with out breaking. I had both of them cracked, but they held together. I usually play rock or heavy metal. These sticks sound awesome for rim shots and they grip awesome. I recently bought another set of 5B Vic Firth sticks and snapped them in half the first week. Go with Pro Mark!

I tried these sticks after a recommendation from my friend. Much to my dismay, they were really light and soft, and I usually play harder rock. These broke within the first three days, compared to my usuall Vic Firth sticks, which last me about a month. I tried another pair thinking I just got a bad pair, but those broke after a week so I just think I'll stick to my Vics.

ok

Comments about PROMARK American Hickory Drumsticks:

I bought these sticks about a month ago. They didn't have an amazing aperance but I really liked using them. They were real light weight but the reason I didn't like them is because they started to split in about 2 weeks. These sticks might be good if you play jazz or soft rock but they are not suited for metal.

Classic, but not the best

By zimbop

from Southwest

Comments about PROMARK American Hickory Drumsticks:

I used these sticks for years but have switched to two other sticks for one primary reason. The finish wears off too fast. Despite how I love their weight and strength, I don't like rough sticks and have found the Promark Japanese White Oak to be far superior in this regard. Even though the Oaks are heavier I prefer them now over the Hickory, mostly because of the finish. My other favorite is Vic Firth Hickory which have a little better response for soft playing, maybe due to the helmet tip, and a more durable finish.

Carter Beauford Nylon Tip

By Chris

from San Antonio, TX

Comments about PROMARK American Hickory Drumsticks:

I love Pro-Mark's Carter Beauford signature series model for it's weight, length, taper, and tip shape. However, it's only offered in a wood tip - which I splinter and break off quite easily. So if you get these in the 5AB model, you can get nylon tips and it's the exact same stick minus Carter's signature. Hands-down, these are my favorite sticks to play with.

Alright 5B

By deftones

Comments about PROMARK American Hickory Drumsticks:

These sticks are well made. I bought these sticks about 2-3 months ago and they're still holding up well. They are kinda cut up but theres no sign of them breaking at all. I've used Vic Firth 2B and Vater 5B. Those Vic Firth 2B's broke a little after 2 weeks, and they are thick as hell. My Promarks are 5B's and they still holding up haha.

    i love these little guys

    By brettbags

    from NJ

Comments about PROMARK American Hickory Drumsticks:

Fantastic sticks! They are light, durable, well balanced, and have a decent grip. I have gone through about 3 or 4 pair of these sticks, each lasting well over 2 months which is great for me. They are so light compared to any other 5A stick which I love after practicing with a pair of 5B's. The grip is great at first, but in my opinion within about a month, it tends to get a little smooth and slippery. Nothing some sandpaper won't fix though. Great wooden sticks and I suggest everyone tries them at least once. If not these then Vaters.
