Awesome kit This is a great drum kit. I just bought the grey metal one. I have been playing for a while and have tried several drum sets. I got this for my girlfriend and she loves it. I recommend some remo pinstripe black ebony heads. also don't expect a pedal or a snare stand. it doesn't come with that. also instead of muffling the toms buy some tone control rings. Once you tune this kit you'll be surprised at how great it sounds!! enjoy.

Bought a set for rehearsal. As I found out, with the right heads, you can really get great sound.

Opaque heads with dead ringers work best.
Drums become responsive with time and tuning them down afterwards keeps the heads lasting longer (Just like guitar strings).

When the opaque finish begins to come off, replace the heads and you'll be back in the swing of things.

When you get to rehearsal, tune the heads like you normally would and your kit begins to have a certain feel as to how you play (Responsive).

The sounds that come from each set depends on how many plys the drum kit has. That's why I have 3 sets of drums.

This kit is good for small venues like lounges and bars. Sound bounces off the dry or brickwalls like crazy. However, if you record, you'll have to retune the kit according to the acoustics around you.

Everything depends on what you do and where you perform.

I have 3 sets. One for concerts (thousands of people 40K-75K), another kit for club venues (400 to Several Thousand People) and this kit for small places (50 to 200). Each drum kit is designed with different specs to produce a unique sound.

Like I said... "Everything Depends On What You Do" and "Where You Perform."

Comments about PDP Z5 5-Piece Shell Pack:

I received this kit after a few years of not having one. I had it as a practice set in my house for quite a bit and eventually was able to join a band and play shows.

    Quick Review:
The original heads that it comes with can withstand abuse for several months before they give out. They sound very powerful in the sense of attack and tone. They sound great out of the box, considering no name heads. The snare is pretty good for what it is but it isnt the best thing out there. It's a bit lower than my current snare (pork pie little squealer mahogany/maple) but has a similar sound. The bass drum also sounds good and powerful but if you replace the heads. The hardware it comes with (the tom holders, legs, etc.) are actually pretty good for a set at this price range and can definitely withstand abuse during tours and stuff.

    I'd give it a 8/10

So far, the only "con" I have is that its a fusion kit. I also have my toms move on occasion (but that was around two or three times within a span of more than a year).

Definitely a set worth getting no matter what your situation is.

Comments about PDP Z5 5-Piece Shell Pack:

Nice but a bit misleading as it does not come with everything you need or that is represented in the picture... so be careful and pay attention to the items included. We may have made a different decision if we had paid attention to the details and not assume the set included everything in the picture.

Comments about PDP Z5 5-Piece Shell Pack:

I purchased this item for my boyfriend and it was deceiving. The was no stand for the snare drum, no seat, no simbles, no base drum peddle. Now, I have to find all these pieces to complete his "not so great birthday present." Not satisfied with how this company said it was a "starter set" but little do they mention all the additional pieces you need.

Comments about PDP Z5 5-Piece Shell Pack:

This drum set is amazing! I got it in the gray color. It sounds really good once its all tuned up. I plan on getting new heads for it in the future though, the heads that it came with are stock but they work well for now. I only have one issue, the floor tom legs are always coming lose and falling off when I play on it.

Comments about PDP Z5 5-Piece Shell Pack:

This kit is actually well made, and the price can't be beat. Obviously you can see some blemishes on the craftsmanship, but its expected for being a cheap drum kit. The snare throw off switch is cheap but not a deal breaker. I just upgraded to Evans heads on all the drums. This kit sounds so much better and i think the kit is gig-gable now with the better heads. This is geared towards a beginner but with a head upgrade this can be for any drummer of any skill level

      Awesome PDP Kit

      By anthony

      from Levittown

Comments about PDP Z5 5-Piece Shell Pack:

This kit is amazing for the price. The quality is great, PDP/DW put decent effort to bring its customers a decent drum kit. Only negative or the factory heads, they are terrible. Up grade new skins including the kick drum and you will have a great sounding kit. Well worth the investment! I plan to keep and use this kit for a long time.

I did not buy this drum set yet. However, from the moment I've seen the picture of this drum set, I wanted to buy. The drum set looks good and price seems reasonable too. Compare to other expensive drum set, I think this drum set looks better. Really, this drum set looks good.
