Comments about PDP Concept Maple by DW 7-Piece Shell Pack:

This set sounds amazing. I love howbeasy it is to get tons exactly where u need them and the bass drum is thundering. Quick to tune. I didn mind the reso heads but prefer to have black chrome batters to the stock Remo they came with. Beautiful sparkle finish in whole entire drum. Snare had a good snap and love the smooth mag throw off. I'm very impressed with this set!

Comments about PDP Concept Maple by DW 7-Piece Shell Pack:

I am used to playing Tama kits and have for almost 30 years, so I was a bit scared to jump to a different brand. I am glad I did because this kit really blew me away with the sound and looks.

To start off the heads that ship with this kit are decent for resonant side but any serious player is going to need to use something different for the batter side. I just kept the extra heads as spare resonant sides. I purchased evans black chrome for batters and tuned them up in an afternoon. Really easy to tune and get the sound I was looking for. Several sweet spots for tuning helped out a lot as well. The all maple shells sound rock solid and have nice tone.

I got the red to black sparkle fade laquer finish and it looks really nice. I have always played black or dark kits but this looked good in the pictures so i thought I would change things up a bi. The pictures do not capture the nice looks of the finish and in the right light it looks like you could put your hand thru the drum! High polish and shine.
I got this as kit at a clearance/sale price but knowing what I do now I would absolutely pay full price for this.

It does come with a matching snare but I have a lil squealer pork pie that I prefer so I cannot provide any info about the sound of the snare other than it's maple. Honestly, I didn't buy this kit for the snare.

The tom mounts are a little stiff at first so I just worked them around a bit in the sockets until they loosened up and then positioning became really easy, like the Tama mounts. The rack toms also have the suspension mounting on the lugs so the toms have a more open sound.

I would buy this again if I had to, but it feels very well built and I imagine it will last quite a while.
The kit isn't insanely heavy to carry but it does feel very solid, if that makes sense.

Shipping was in 4 business days and everything was well packaged and damage free.
I am very pleased with the purchase.

Comments about PDP Concept Maple by DW 7-Piece Shell Pack:

I've played on quite a few drum sets, and this one takes the cake. It's very easy to tune, and the snare can sound fantastic with the right head on it. The design of the snare lever makes it effortless to engage.

        Dynamics! Dynamics! Dynamics!
The floor toms, while being able to give a powerful low tone, are also able to be very gentle.
And make no mistake, that tiny 8" tom can fill a room if tuned right.
Overall, the dynamic depth is magnificent. With heavy hits and light brushes, the tone, attack, and volume are all within your control. It's perfect if you play multiple genres. You can go straight from playing Metallica, Cannibal Corpse, and Slipknot into smooth jazz and blues.

The mounting system makes each of the toms easy to position, and with no metal bars going into your drums, it doesn't interfere much with the sound.

Overall, this is a fantastic drum set, capable of giving you whatever sound you're looking for. I bought it to hold me over until I could get something better, but I don't think I'll buy anything else!

Comments about PDP Concept Maple by DW 7-Piece Shell Pack:

I've been playing drums for 5 years and finally decided it was time to upgrade my kit from the Stagg Tim+. I use my drums for live performances, amateur recording, and just as a hobby at home.
The first thing I noticed about the kit was the amazing lacquer when I unboxed the set. Assembling the kit was very easy with everything you need for mounting and tuning included.
Tuning this set was such a joy for me. My old kit was awful, took forever, and when you were finished, it still had a hollow and overall bad sound to it. This kit was a whole different story. Even with the stock heads, tuning all 7 drums took less than a half hour and they have a nice deep sound to them.
The mounting system is amazing for this kit as well. The other kits I looked at for the same price range at mounting systems that went through the tom bolts, which would mess with the tuning as you played them and make tearing down and assembling the kit a hassle every time. This set uses very sturdy hardware.
Overall, I highly recommend this kit to anyone that doesn't want to drop a couple grand on a set. The amount of drums you get for the quality you receive is incredible. I'm very excited to continue my drumming on a set of this caliber.

I retired my 43 year old drumset that I have played for 43 years. I waited for the right time and received it on a Monday and played my first Gig with it on Saturday without being able to play it in between. The setup was pretty smooth, the sound was amazing and the options of all the drums made my life that night so much easier. My band members were giving me positive reviews all night. It looks great and all I have done so far is change the heads on the base drum. I do have some work to do on the snare but that is minor and actually I did not buy this set for the snare. I am a very happy drummer right now.

BEST drums I have ever purchased! I love the sound with pretty much any head, but aquarian heads make it shine. The snare is alright. I've replaced it with PDP and DW's new Limited Edition Maple/Walnut snare which is beautiful and sounds amazing for its price! The Bass drum on this kit is probably my favorite, everything has great sound quality. I got it in white so it's bright and clean. I play in a band and every show so far, people have given the kit compliments left and right. Don't hesitate and look at other cheapo kits if you want the best bang. ADD TO CART!

They seem to be a very good value, I have a CB 700 set I got in 1982 and still play them today. DW bought CB 700 to start their company and they have made a set for the working musician to afford and be proud of. I've only had them a few day's but with the Remo Ebony Pinstripes they sound pretty good. I like my sound deep and you can get that with these, I got the PDP Rack System also and it's coming together nicely.

The Most Bang for Your Buck, Period!

Comments about PDP Concept Maple by DW 7-Piece Shell Pack:

Having been a drummer for over 40 years, I've played many kits over the years. Favorites were vintage Slingerland and Rogers kits. For the last 15 years I have been playing exclusively on Roland Vdrums. desperately missing the expressiveness of an acoustic kit, I began my search for a new kit. After months of research I decided to give DW's PDP concept maple series a try. I purchased the 7pcs silver to black sparkle fade (my wife and children's choice), as recommended I replaced the batter heads with some Evans G2 coated, an EMAD head on the bass and and Evans HD Dry on the snare! the kit sounds amazing. the drums tuned beautifully. Worth every penny! Even the stock snare has great bite, response and presence. whether you're a beginner looking for your first kit or an old salt like myself, you wont find a better value for a shell pack. This price point allows you to have an amazing sounding/feeling kit and focus more money on your cymbal investment!

              Excellent upgrade!

              By Jasper Cole-Kink

              from West Stockbridge, MA

Comments about PDP Concept Maple by DW 7-Piece Shell Pack:

I bought this kit after playing a second-hand entry-level kit for four years, and it was worth every penny. I usually don't like big kits, but the Concept Maple 7-piece is very versatile in that it can be configured for any sort of gig. The high-end hardware features (dual turret lugs, MAG throw-off, True-Pitch tension rods with more thread than usual) make it look and feel like a pro-level kit. The stock tom heads sound passable when tuned with a DrumDial, but the bass and snare heads are really lacking. An upgrade to G2 Coated/HD Dry/EMAD2 or whatever heads you prefer is absolutely necessary. Overall, this is a pretty excellent kit for the money.
