Beginner's Luck for Budget Drummers

By Simon L.

from New York City, NY

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

The Pacific's DP602C is no joke, it's considered a great pedal among first time users for their double kicking experience. However, everything you see there is basic, no "tricks" or "turns" with this one, but just a simple pedal with an extra "kick" on the side. Features: Pros - What I really like about this pedal is that it grips onto the bass drum like super glue, and it uses a drum-key to do so. To my opinion, its grip surpasses its first companion, the DW 5000 series. Chain reflex is great, unlike some DW pedals, the Pacific's chain doesn't fall off and hit your feet. Springs (just like all pedals) are adjustable to the right feedback when kicking, so that's a plus. There's also a nice Velcro hidden under the 2nd pedal (the slave pedal) that gives your pedals some grip on the carpet, and also, the adjustable nails that keeps the pedals in place are great as well. Cons - Well, like I said, it's a basic pedal. For most pedals today, especially for the expensive ones, their beaters are adjustable to any angle that a drummer pleases, however for the Pacific's DP, it doesn't have that feature. Quality: When it comes down to buying something with a budget, there's always the quality that turns every drummer's decision nuts. The Pacific DP is by far in fact, EXCELLENT with quality, however, still receives a 4.0 for minor things. Quality: Pros - To tell you this, I've been owning two pairs of Pacific's DP (because I don't have money to buy 2 pairs of much more expensive pedals), and they have served me pretty well in terms of quality, so for the Pro side of it, I've massacred these pedals, threw them everywhere like they were my sticks, dropped them in rain puddles (also played in the rain) just to check out its quality for water exposure (BECAUSE THEY ARE SO CHEAP!). And to tell you the truth, it's pretty outstanding, No dents, scratches, even chipped paint! So that's a huge plus for this pedal. Cons - For everything that's made of metal material, there's always the "rusty" side of the story. So, for all pedals out there, they tend to rust, same goes for the Pacific DP, and usually it's always the chains that are a bothersome description for every drummer. And also with the Pacific DP, it'll start losing its flexibility and squeek due to dryness of the bairings (however you spell that). So, the best solution to that is WD40 (a lubricant for metal materials, widely used in bicycles, cars, machines, etc.) (you can find it in a hardware store) and after using that, your pedals would sound brand spankin' new. Another con for quality are the beaters, they tend to wear out pretty quickly, so think ahead into what other beaters you can buy to replace your stock ones (and yes, all beaters have a universal side, so you can buy 3rd party beaters to replace your Pacific Beaters) Value: PRICE IS GREAT!!!!! that's all... I mean, come'on 100 bux!? That's the best deal I've ever heard!

This pedal makes me HAPPY!!!

By YoungDrummer92

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

I love this pedal and I'm so glad I got it. Since I've only been drumming for half a year I was planning on getting a cheaper pedal.(single chain, cheap baseplates) It's not the fastest but it's VERY CLOSE. If you have never had a double bass pedal before, GET THIS ONE!!!

Very Good... for a first Double Base Pedal

By Drummer Dude 5

from Scottsboro, AL

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

As stated in the title this is a very good pedal to get the basicis of double base drumming under your feet. When i first got it (About 2 1/2 years ago) I really thought it was great. However now that i have some experience under my belt, i find that it is really hard to control fast beats on it. So if your ready to graduate from "one" to "two" base drums on your kit, than by all means purchase it. But if your a seasoned metal drummer who can play 32nd notes at 120 bpm's steer clear.

best pedal out there

By kylehowdy

from St. Louis, MO

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

so i bought this pedal when i first got my drumset thinking it was going to be a noob beginner pedal, after 2 and a half years, its treated me very great. i play metal drums, like blasts and double bass, so obviously i need a pedal that can keep up, and it does. all my drum buddys play it and say its better then theres, and they have iron cobras and all these expensive ones. if your looking for a pedal that was smooth hits, and just feels perfect when you play, trust me, this is the pedal for you, you wont regret this purchase.

By Bob

from San Gabriel Valley, CA

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

I have played this with this double for four years. It is extremely well made and durable. I have played drums for over 30 years and have not always been able to afford top of the line gear. This pedal has great action at a low price and top of the line quality. I am really happy with my purchase.

a great double pedal

By ddrum1000

from warren, mi

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

I can't believe this pedal. When I went to guitar center to get a dw 5000 pedal a year a go the guy that was helping me showed me this DP602C Double Pedal and I was amazed. This is a great buy. For under 200 bucks you get a high quality piece of hardware that can stand up against the abuse from going to gigs and playing hard. This pedal is great, I recomend getting this one over most others.

Amazing Pedal!

By Josh Best

from Saint Cloud, FL

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

This is the best pedal for the price. I went to Guitar Center to get a PDP 402, but saw the 602 for only 80$ more. This pedal has great weighted response, it is double braced, which makes it way more durable, and has awesome grip. I have had this pedal for over 6 months and have not had one problem with it. This is by far the best double pedal for any type of music play, and for your money.

My first and favorite double peddle

By (Good Apollo)

from San Marcos, CA

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

I've tried many different peddles such as the DW 9000, DW 7000, PDP 602 series, and the PDP 402 Series. So far my favorite is this one, the double chain is a whole lot sturdier than the single and its reliable, great for starters like me.

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

I've played many pedals of all price ranges. This pedal is excellent and rivals more expensive models. The action is smooth, it is very sturdy, overall and it looks GREAT. The $50 upgrade from the basic model is well worth your hard earned money. ROCK ON!

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

this was my first doubleand overall its smooth and great for the price. the only problem i had at first was that if i was playing for long period of time and using lots of double pedal, the screw that connects the srpring to the pedal board would fall....not so good when your trying to play double pedals when only one is working...but after tweaking with it, it doesnt fall out anymore...but overall...good pedal, good price

There's no other pedal!!!

By Raymond

from Washington

Comments about PDP DP602C Double Pedal:

This pedal has got to be the best for the price. This is my first double pedal I have owed and I wont be switching pedals anytime soon. I have played on all the good pedals like, iron cobra, and the DW 9000 and i have to say that this pedal keeps up with thoughs. It was vary easy to put together and is very smoth. The only thing that is wrong is you have to move the beters so they dont hit you. All in all this is a good peadl for the money and the quality.
