WOW this is a great set. All maple shells, STM mounts, killer sound and tone who could ask for more. this set has all the features of high end DW sets at an affordable price. if you're looking for a set with warm tones, all maple shells and a kit that sounds good live you're looking at the right set.ROCK ON PDP!!!!
I did allot of comparing and sound checks before deciding on the all maple CX. These drums blew away everything in their price range in one way or another. It was down to the Gretch Catalina Maple or these. The Gretch Catalina maple are made in China, the Pacific CX is made in Mexico which kind of sucks too but unless you have thousands to spend on American made drums you have to live with it. The toms are 5 lug on the Gretch Catalina instead of 6 like the Pacific CX, more lugs on the CX bass drum also. The sound quality was pretty much equal, given the fact that they use different brand heads. The Gretch Catalina have a lacquer finish and the Pacific CX have a wrap finish, I like the 60's style look and the Red Sparkle was right up my alley so the wrap wasn't a minus. At any rate I've had these drums for a while now and I've never had a doubt I made the right choice. I actually bought the shells and then got the "real" DW hardware. Bottom line, you can gig with these drums and not give much away even to the pro rigs.
I own something like this. maybe not in these exact colors or model or whatever. I have a PDP kit. End of story. I love it. after a little bit of tuning, it sounds like something Green Day-esque when Tr? goes on a wild, manic drum solo. A lot of pros in bands use it and endorse it, but it's still a great beginner kit where you don't overspend on a 20000 piece kit. I would'nt trade my kit for any other brand.
This drum kit is a great value. I bought it at Guitar Center myself and got it that day. I love everything about the shells, not to mention the looks! I play in the worship band at two churches and I use this set at one of them. It sounds awsome! Don't hesitate to buy it. I recommend new heads and an upgrade on the snare, but besides that, you can't beat this kit for the price1
I bought this a couple of weeks ago and I like it a lot. The bass has a nice tone and and it's easy to adjust the toms. My only problem is that the toms have a weird Jamaican-like tone, but can be replaced with some Remos. All in all it's a decent set for the price.
I recently bought this drumset in royal onyxand it looks great and it sounds awsome! I cutomized mine but adding an 8 and 16 inch toms to the set and adding a spaun snare and it sounds sick! i bought an evans e mad head for the bass and it has a really awsome sound now, the stocks heads are good too but just buy e-rings for them and then the sound awsome, but i prefer this set over some dw sets i have played. this set rocks
The sound of this kit is amazing. I've played for a long time on a few different Pearl sets, and the CX kit is such a punchy and full sound, I could never go back. I am buying my second set sometime soon.
I absolutely love the PDP CX drums. 100% maple shells for cheap! Of course, they aren't up to par with higher end kits, but the difference is not very noticeable. I use the stock heads on the toms and when they are tuned right, they sound amazing! They resonate very well; they sing! Of course, a kit in this price range isn't going to be perfect. The tension rods and lugs aren't the best. With certain lugs/tension rods, it is very hard to tune and the threads give away. I believe that is a hit or miss problem because I have heard of others' kits being flawless in this area. The other bad thing is the snare. I never liked this snare, but I guess it's all personal preference there. Overall, this an amazing kit for an amazing price. Other than the minor flaws, this kit is AWESOME. If you are looking for a cheap kit that sounds great, go for the PDP CX kit.
I bought these as my first 'good' kit. My real one was a no name japanese one, and these were a big upgrade. All Maple Shells and the DW name make a good kit that is affordable for beginners. The wrap finish also allows you to gig with them (as I do now, as my B kit) and still look good. They sound great with the proper heads, and a little bit of TLC will go a long way. These drums are good for the money, but if you just need a shellpack, I would check out the Gretsch Catalina Drums.
I absolutely love these drums. When I compared this kit to other similar priced models, these 100% maple drums sound fantastic. Even with the stock heads, they are warm and full. I bought some Evans EC2's for the tom batter heads, and the sound quality doubled instantly. They hold their tune very well, and the 8.155 hardware is excellent gear for a the price. If these drums are in your budget, then I highly recommend them. Not many other companies give you 100% maple in the same price range.
I absoulutly love these drums. I have played every dime out of them for what there worth and there amazing. the toms are great a full sounding. The bass is punchy and deep. The snare is loud and has a great tone. I added the floor tom and now im geting ready to had the eight inch. These drums are amazing and was the best percusion purchase i have ever made.
I purchased this set a little over a year ago, and it is an amazing set. I have not played in over 30 years; was asked to be a part of my cousin's band. I was looking for an afordable set with good quality. I can't believe the quality I got with this set. I am more than pleased. Great sound; previosly had Ludwig and Leedy, this Pacific is better in my opinion.
Excellent kit for the money. The toms 10,12,14.16 can be tuned for a number of different sounds complementing the bass which is booming. Same with the snare, amazing amout of tuning range. However, the lugs on the snare should be higher quality. I have received many compliments on the Royal Onyx finish. There is a small flaw on the bass hoop where the cut of the wrap is not clean and overlaps on the side a bit but, I put it on the bottom so it's hidden. Overall I couldn't be happier.
I have not played drums in 30 years and my husband shocked me last Christmas with sparkling silver Pacific Drums CX Fusion. These are wonderful for stress relief and a great cardiac workout at the end of a long stressful day. The quality and sound that I have experienced from this set is amazing. I would recommend this brand to anyone!
This set is by far one of the most overall best deals a drummer could ask for. The all maple shells are a plus, not to mention how overall amazing this set sounds. I beleive this set is a great idea for even a pro, not to mention a beginner, anything made my PDP or DW is always going to be worth it.
I am an expierenced drummer and have played with many different bands. I got the Pacific Drums by DW CX fusion Kit and I immediatly loved it. For the price it is a great set and it sounds great! I recomend this to any drummer from a beginner to someone who has been playing for 20 years.
I have previously owned this drumset, and I loved it. I used it for about 4 years and lasted even the hardest hits. Its great for beginners to amateurs.
This drum set is the best deal i've seen. The maple shells really give it a great sound and the heads are also really good. The toms sizes are perfect (10, 12, 14) and its an easy set to add on to and its great for any kind of music from Jazz to Metal and everything in between. Another great feature of this set is the 22 inch bass drum. The only thing that could be better was the lugnuts on the snare. Other than that this kit is the best i've ever played on for this amount of money; and seems like it is going to last a very long time. I dont think that you can get a better deal on a drum set anywhere.
Great kit for anyone who plays, whether you are beginning or been playing for decades. The add on additions are a bit limited as far as additional toms, but awesome kit for the money. i am not a huge fan of fusion kits, but with new heads (evans EC2 sound great) and proper tuning you can get a great sound at a good price!
I just bought this kit and I love it! I play with a national touring act and this baby is a great kit for the price. Great value for all maple shells. The stock heads are a bit weak. But, honestly, whose aren't?
