Some people are saying that these cymbal stands are more heavy-duty than advertised. Whoever says this most likely thinks their B8 alloy ride qualifies as a "heavy cymbal", and if the PDP 700 boom stand can hold it, it MUST BE HEAVY DUTY I have all Zildjian A Custom ReZos, K Customs/K Custom Hybrids, and Sabian AAXs on my kit, and I'll say right off the bat that my crashes (16"-20") can NOT be placed steadily onto any of these stands if they are raised to anywhere above three feet off the ground. They start wobbling and tilting when being hit with just MODERATE force. HOWEVER!...I still give these stands 5 stars for two reasons: 1. The Price - two cheap stands for $80 retail, $40 on sale (what I paid). That's $20 a piece. I really can't complain. 2. Usability - I have a double ride setup (two ride cymbals) and, naturally, they are the heaviest cymbals on my kit. I let the cymbal stands sit SHORT so they have a lower center of gravity. I also keep the tiller arm only about halfway extended so that most of the weight from the ride cymbals stay close to the body of the hardware. This way, I use budget cymbal stands to hold my ride cymbals durably without much sway and wobble, while using my more expensive hardware to hold up my crashes and chinas. The way I described is probably the only way to decently hold up any heavyweight (actual HEAVYWEIGHT cymbals guys) cymbals on these budget stands. Use them for ride cymbals, small crashes/efx cymbals, or budget cymbals. Keep them low to the ground as much as possible, don't over extend the tiller arm. You can't go wrong with them. Happy drumming my friends.

Buy only if you have a purpose for them. I have 2 medium weight cymbal stands from the 80s that I can use the tops for and make them into boom stands. Or I can use the tops with adapter clamps. The tops are sturdy. The bottom I am using with the top of my other stand to hold a set of wind chimes. I would not use the whole stand for anything except a cymbal which is smaller than 12" or light percussion.. The bottoms are too light. If you notice the top of the stand is the same top they use for the 800 series. If the tops werent sturdy I would give them one star.

A great buy

Comments about PDP by DW 700 Series Cymbal Boom Stand - 2 Pack:

I now have bought this pair pack twice. They function well and are very versatile. I have had no problems with them and would order again. They are called lightweight but I find them to be sturdy and heavy.

I purchased these cymbal stands based on a review that stated they were heavier wight than advertised. But I was disappointed. They are what the are advertised as - lightweight. Good for small cymbals only.

you get what you pay for

By Matthew

Comments about PDP by DW 700 Series Cymbal Boom Stand - 2 Pack:

For the price it is not a bad cymbal stand. It is what is though and I do need to make sure to position it just right so I don't knock anything over. I'd give it 3.5 stars for the value if the site let me. I'd recommend this stand to anyone who was gunning for hardware on the cheap like me. Eventually you will want to grab some nicer stands, especially for gigging. (imagine 2 songs in you knock the boom arm loose or the stand tips over) I will probably be adding some weights to the legs for stability. It is also worth mentioning I am a little bit of a heavy hitter thanks to my bands genre (metal).

Comments about PDP by DW 700 Series Cymbal Boom Stand - 2 Pack:

Boom rod and fittings are real nice quality, however over diameter of base and extension are very small. Installed a double sound effect cymbal and was unable to extend boom more than couple inches. Whole stand wants to fall over from weight of cymbals. I should have paid closer attention to the duty level.

      Very poor quality control

      By David

      from York, PA

Comments about PDP by DW 700 Series Cymbal Boom Stand - 2 Pack:

I purchased a two pack of these stands and when I got them home I realized it was a mistake. One of the stands had a bolt on it that was too small for the nut thereby rendering one of two stands useless. Since the bolt is a custom part, I could not just go to a hardware store to replace it. PDP, you made me realize that you are a very second rate brand. Never will I buy your junk again!
